During a September night in 2020, Rich Fay exited a plant-based eatery named Shrub after enjoying a mushroom skewer with his soon-to-be spouse. When he turned his mobile device back on, he noticed he had overlooked a message from a buddy.  Then came another message. Followed by three additional ones.
