Chelsea are expected to release a number of fringe players this summer as the Xabi Alonso era gets underway, with backup goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen among those anticipated to exit Stamford Bridge.
Alonso's appointment could trigger a significant clear-out in west London, with Chelsea's oversized squad in need of reshaping following a thoroughly dismal season that saw them fail to qualify for any European competition.
Jörgensen is one of those widely expected to be shown the door. BBC Sport reports that the 24-year-old has formally requested a transfer in order to secure more consistent playing time going forward. He had previously sought a move during the January transfer window but was denied.
The Danish international featured just 13 times throughout the 2025–26 season, having been largely sidelined under Enzo Maresca and prone to costly mistakes when called upon by Liam Rosenior.
Jörgensen, who arrived from Villarreal for $26.6 million (£20.7 million) in 2024, has made his intentions clear to Chelsea's head of global goalkeeping, Ben Roberts, and is expected to draw interest from Premier League clubs.
Porto, Beşiktaş and Genoa had all shown interest in Jörgensen during the January window, and it remains unclear whether those clubs will renew their pursuit. No deal is thought to be imminent at this stage.
Which Other Chelsea Players Could Leave This Summer?

One player Chelsea are keen to hold onto, unlike Jörgensen, is Enzo Fernández. The Argentine midfielder publicly hinted at a potential switch to Real Madrid during the March international break—earning a two-match suspension from the club—while Manchester City have also emerged as a serious contender for his services as they prepare for life under his former Chelsea manager, Maresca.
The 25-year-old appears eager to move on from Stamford Bridge after a turbulent campaign, with the club placing a valuation of around $161.2 million (£120 million) on the prized midfielder.
Chelsea will be far less reluctant to part ways with others. Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana are set to leave after returning from loan stints, while academy product Tyrique George could also be sold for a clean profit following a disappointing loan spell at Everton in early 2026.
A verdict is also needed on Nicolas Jackson, who will not be signing permanently for Bayern Munich despite a loan spell that brought a domestic double and 14 goal contributions. The raw yet promising 24-year-old could be given a chance under Alonso, particularly if other attacking options depart.

Liam Delap could be among those departing, despite having only joined the Blues last summer. A forgettable debut campaign and the signing of Strasbourg's Emmanuel Emegha suggest Chelsea may already be prepared to move on from the 23-year-old, who has managed a mere three goals in 47 appearances.
Young forward Marc Guiu may also be heading elsewhere after struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge. A loan to Sunderland was terminated after just three games to provide squad cover in 2025–26, yet the 20-year-old Spaniard still managed only 13 appearances across all competitions and a single Premier League start.
Changes at the back are also possible. Chelsea carry an abundance of defenders and, despite Alonso's preference for a back three, the defensive unit remains an area ripe for reduction. Tosin Adarabioyo could be offloaded following a below-par season, while the frequently injured Benoît Badiashile looks set to be an inevitable victim of this summer's squad overhaul.
