Alexander Isak Faces Make-or-Break Decision as Liverpool Circle with Transfer Ultimatum

Newcastle United management has reportedly issued an ultimatum to forward Alexander Isak, stating he must return to team training if no suitable bid for his transfer materializes in the upcoming weeks.

Isak, who was absent during pre-season due to what was characterized as a thigh problem, is currently practicing separately from the main Newcastle group at manager Eddie Howe's direction, as Howe admitted he doesn't want the Swedish player's behavior to disrupt team morale.

Sources suggest Newcastle leadership has told Isak he won't be departing this summer, reportedly causing disappointment for the striker who desires a high-profile move to Liverpool.

Per Chronicle Live, while the departure possibility isn't completely shut down, club officials have clearly communicated to Isak that professional conduct is expected until they receive what they consider a satisfactory bid for his transfer.

Newcastle has already rejected Liverpool's £110 million ($147.8 million) proposal, instead placing a £150 million price tag on the forward. Whether Liverpool will match this valuation remains uncertain.

Should Newcastle not receive a substantially higher offer, Isak will remain at the club this summer. With his deal running until 2028, the Magpies are under minimal pressure to sanction a departure this transfer window.

Howe has publicly maintained there's still an opportunity for Isak's reintegration at Newcastle and has expressed hope regarding the striker's potential return to group training, despite reports suggesting he has displayed "zero enthusiasm" for continuing at Newcastle.

Isak is anticipated to be unavailable for Newcastle's Premier League season opener against Aston Villa this Saturday. Notably, their subsequent match features Liverpool visiting on Aug. 25.
