All the Man Utd Stars Racing Against Time to Recover During Fall 2026 International Break

Manchester United right-back Noussair Mazraoui became the club's most recent injury victim of the September-October international break after being forced off during Morocco's Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory over Lesotho on Tuesday.

Mazraoui had previously started and netted in Friday's 2–0 triumph against Gabon, keeping his spot in the starting lineup despite a number of changes made by coach Mohamed Ouahbi for the Lesotho fixture.

However, the fullback went down in a heap midway through the second period after attempting a challenge near the sideline in Morocco's defensive half. Mazraoui won possession in the tackle but appeared to injure himself in doing so, grabbing at his left hip or lower back area. Several teammates rushed over to check on his condition before the referee waved Morocco's medical team onto the pitch.

Mazraoui was substituted off with 69 minutes on the clock and did not return to the field.

Morocco is set to face Ghana on Sunday in its final game of this international window, though it remains unclear whether Mazraoui will participate or travel back to England for further assessment.

United would likely prefer he return to Carrington rather than risk further damage. Ghana happens to be Morocco's most challenging opponent in this round of fixtures.

Mazraoui has not been a regular starter under Michael Carrick this season, but the 28-year-old's adaptability makes him a valuable squad member nonetheless. The former Ajax and Bayern Munich defender has played at both right back and left back in recent weeks, acting as the primary backup for Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw. Any extended absence for Mazraoui would represent a significant setback.

Man Utd Injuries—11 Players Out

Currently, with Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Tom Heaton already ruled out before the international break, Noussair Mazraoui's injury brings Manchester United's total number of sidelined players to 11.

Bruno Fernandes missed Portugal's victory over Norway on Sunday, with national team boss Jorge Jesus revealing it was an issue the midfielder had already been managing while playing for United. "He told me he's been playing with that pain for the last three games, which is hindering him," Jesus said. "It prevented Bruno from playing at his best against Wales. I prefer not to risk it in this game [against Norway] so he's fully fit for the Denmark match."

Versatile wide player Patrick Dorgu emerged as an injury concern when Denmark faced Wales last weekend. He had started against Norway just days prior but lasted only 30 minutes before being withdrawn when Wales came to visit. The issue appeared to be a hamstring complaint and he was subsequently sent home.

England's Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo failed to report to the national squad, pulling out of the Three Lions setup shortly after United's final match before the club schedule paused. Neither academy product completed the 1–1 draw against Fulham.

Benjamin Šeško found himself in a comparable situation with Slovenia, withdrawing before even reporting to camp. The striker had not featured at all in the Fulham match. Reserve goalkeeper Karl Darlow also had to withdraw from Wales duty. Should he fail to recover before United's next fixture on Oct. 10, combined with Heaton's ongoing injury, fourth-choice keeper Dermot Mee could find himself moving up the pecking order.
