English soccer has been home to some of the finest USMNT players of the 21st century.
Brad Friedel, Tim Howard, Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan all had notable stints in the Premier League, laying the groundwork for America's next wave of emerging talent.
Many players expected to feature in the USMNT's 2026 World Cup squad currently compete in England's top two divisions, following in the footsteps of those pioneering figures.
While the likes of Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Folarin Balogun no longer represent English clubs, there is still a strong American presence across the Premier League and Championship.
Here are the USMNT players—who have received call-ups over the past year—set to feature in England during the 2026–27 season.
Tyler Adams (Bournemouth)
It has been nearly eight years since Tyler Adams departed New York to embark on his European journey. A transfer to RB Leipzig proved successful, and the defensive midfielder soon attracted Premier League interest, with Leeds United making their move.
Despite a solid debut season, Adams couldn't help Leeds avoid the drop, and Bournemouth stepped in to bring him back to the top flight. An injury-disrupted first season on the south coast was followed by two impressive campaigns.
Haji Wright (Coventry City)
Haji Wright drifted across Europe before eventually finding a home at Coventry City. A winding path through Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Türkiye led him to the Midlands, where his 17 Championship goals last season played a key role in Coventry's promotion to the Premier League.
Wright, who has never played in England's top division before, will be determined to make his mark and hold onto his place under manager Frank Lampard. At 28, he cannot afford to let this chance pass him by.
Chris Richards (Crystal Palace)
Chris Richards failed to establish himself at Bayern Munich early in his career, but he has found his footing at Crystal Palace. Since joining in 2022, he has racked up well over a hundred appearances and has been a key figure during the club's most successful era.
While Marc Guéhi and Eberechi Eze frequently grabbed the headlines before departing Selhurst Park, Richards's contributions were vital to Palace's FA Cup and Conference League triumphs under Oliver Glasner. He has grown considerably as a player in London.
Antonee Robinson (Fulham)
Antonee Robinson has spent his entire career in England, which comes as little surprise given he was born and brought up in the country. After coming through the ranks at Everton, the left back had loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic before making a permanent switch to Fulham.
It has now been six years since Robinson arrived at Craven Cottage, and he has excelled consistently. A standout 2024–25 season, in which he registered 10 assists from the back, even attracted speculation linking him with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.
Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United)
Leeds has proven a popular landing spot for American talent, and Brenden Aaronson is no exception. The attacking midfielder left Philadelphia Union for RB Salzburg in 2020 and spent a productive 18 months in Austria before Leeds came knocking.
Aside from a loan spell at Union Berlin, Aaronson has called Elland Road home for the past four years and played an important role in the club's return to the Premier League in 2025. In the top flight last season, he contributed nine goal involvements as Leeds secured their survival.
Patrick Agyemang (Derby County)
Patrick Agyemang had hoped to play a part in the USMNT's home World Cup this summer, but a serious long-term Achilles injury ended any prospect of that. The Derby County forward may not be back in action until 2027.
He has shown real quality for both club and country, with six goals in 14 international appearances and 10 goals in 38 matches during his first Derby season highlighting his ability and promise.
Sebastian Berhalter (Middlesbrough)
Although he featured sparingly under Mauricio Pochettino at the World Cup, Sebastian Berhalter—son of former USMNT head coach Gregg—shone whenever given the opportunity. Middlesbrough clearly took notice, recently acquiring him from Vancouver Whitecaps for $2 million.
The energetic midfielder will be eager to make an impact in his first season away from Major League Soccer and could prove instrumental in Middlesbrough's bid to reach the Premier League after falling short in last season's Championship playoff final.
Aidan Morris (Middlesbrough)
Berhalter has a fellow American alongside him at Middlesbrough. Fellow midfielder Aidan Morris joined the club two seasons ago and has cemented his place at the Riverside Stadium, featuring 45 times throughout the 2025–26 campaign.
The 24-year-old is fulfilling his potential following a $4 million move from Columbus Crew, and his continued strong form in the Championship looks set to earn him more opportunities with the USMNT.
Damion Downs (Southampton)

Damion Downs grew up splitting his time between Germany and the United States. Though he opted to represent the latter on the international stage, it was in Germany where he made his name as a product of the Köln academy.
An 11-goal season with the Bundesliga club in 2024–25 persuaded Southampton to bring him in, but his debut campaign proved deeply disappointing. He managed just 14 appearances without scoring, and spent the second half of the season on loan at Hamburg, where he similarly struggled to find the net.
