Amorim Shocks with Surprise Goalkeeper Gamble Against Sunderland

Senne Lammens is set to make his Manchester United bow after being included in the starting eleven for Saturday's clash against Sunderland.

Following André Onana's drop down the hierarchy, United secured a transfer worth an initial €21 million (£18.3 million, $24.7 million) to bring in 23-year-old Lammens from Royal Antwerp, though he has had to wait patiently as Ruben Amorim kept choosing Altay Bayındır over him.

With the Turkish keeper also struggling to make an impact, Amorim has opted to give Lammens his first chance, positioning him behind a three-man defense that features the comeback of Leny Yoro.

Amad Diallo makes his return to the team after being given leave due to a family loss, with the ex-Sunderland loan player set to feature at right wing-back, facing Diogo Dalot on the opposite flank.

Casemiro partners Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park after completing his single-game ban following his dismissal against Chelsea. In attack, Mason Mount earns selection over Matheus Cunha, who moves to the substitutes' bench.

Man Utd Starting Lineup vs. Sunderland

(3-4-2-1): Lammens; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes (c), Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Šeško.

Subs: Bayındır, Dorgu, Heaven, Léon, Maguire, Mainoo, Ugarte, Cunha, Zirkzee.

"Squad rotation similar to our approach last season," Amorim explained regarding his choice to field Lammens. "Every player must be prepared for any match.

"This is a different lineup compared to our previous fixture, so we've selected a team we believe can secure victory.

"We are prepared to handle whatever tactics the opposition employs. We can compete and that represents the key element we must improve from our last outing."

United enter this fixture positioned 14th in the Premier League table, having collected merely seven points from six matches, and face mounting pressure to turn around their disappointing start against a promoted Sunderland team that has adapted well to top-flight football.

Régis Le Bris's squad sits comfortably in sixth place with only a single defeat so far this campaign.
