Andre Onana Eyes Swift Man Utd Comeback as Injury Recovery Timeline Revealed

André Onana has set his sights on being ready for the Premier League season opener as the Cameroon shot-stopper continues his recovery from a hamstring problem.
The custodian was absent throughout the Premier League Summer Series following his July injury setback. Ruben Amorim relied on Altay Bayındır and Tom Heaton during the American tour as the Red Devils maintained their undefeated record across three matches against West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton.
Onana spoke with Tim Howard on NBC Sports and Sky Sports prior to their Summer Series concluding match against Everton in Atlanta to address his physical condition and potential comeback timeline.
"I'm feeling positive, really good. It's been some challenging weeks but hopefully, I'll be ready for the season's beginning. I'm relishing the training sessions with my teammates and we're all anticipating [the season start]," the keeper explained.
The 29-year-old Onana has faced criticism since joining under previous boss Erik ten Hag. His Manchester United future has been questioned this summer amid speculation linking Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emiliano Martínez to the club. Royal Antwerp's goalkeeper Senne Lammens has also openly expressed the club's desire for his signature.
Manchester United failed to register a shutout in any of their three preseason fixtures in America, allowing four goals across the matches. Unless a new signing arrives, Onana remains the expected first-choice keeper. The anticipated return of Lisandro Martinez and a complete summer preparation period should benefit a backline that shipped 54 goals in last season's Premier League campaign. Onana ended the season joint-seventh for clean sheets in the division, matching Liverpool's Alisson Becker's tally.
Considering Bayındır's playing time against West Ham and Everton, should Onana not be match-ready for the Arsenal clash at Old Trafford, the Turkish goalkeeper might get the starting opportunity.
