Andre Onana Poised to Cash In Big with Trabzonspor Move as Man Utd Exit Looms

André Onana is set to join Trabzonspor in Turkey's Süper Lig on a season-long loan deal following his fall from favor at Manchester United.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper has endured an error-prone period at Old Trafford, with the deadline day acquisition of Belgian keeper Senne Lammens essentially sealing Onana's departure from the Red Devils.

Moving from a prestigious European club like Man Utd in England's top flight to a mid-tier Turkish Süper Lig team represents a sporting downgrade in terms of prestige. Nevertheless, this transfer could prove financially rewarding for Onana.

Per The Athletic, individuals familiar with Onana's situation indicate the goalkeeper will receive nearly twice his Manchester United wages at Trabzonspor. The Turkish outfit has committed to paying Onana's full United salary, with additional performance-related incentives boosting his earnings further.

While Trabzonspor and United finalized the loan arrangement initially, Onana remained hesitant about leaving the club. The goalkeeper was ultimately persuaded and will join his new team following his international duties with Cameroon in September.

Ruben Amorim chose to start Altay Bayındır ahead of Onana in United's opening three matches of the campaign. Onana's sole outing for the Red Devils in 2025–26 occurred during their stunning loss to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup's second round, where he delivered another disappointing display.

The expectation is that Onana will be prepared and eligible for his Trabzonspor bow against Fenerbahçe this Sunday. Fati Tekke's squad currently sits second in the Süper Lig table, trailing only defending champions Galatasaray.

Following two underwhelming campaigns with Man Utd, Onana aims to rediscover the form that helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final in 2022–23. Regardless, it seems his loan spell could prove highly lucrative financially.
