Ange Postecoglou Makes Stunning Premier League Comeback as Nottingham Forest's New Boss

Ange Postecoglou has been confirmed as Nottingham Forest's new head coach.

Forest dismissed Nuno Espírito Santo early Tuesday morning following weeks of backstage discord after the summer appointment of former Arsenal executive Edu as head of football.

Nuno publicly expressed his frustrations and is believed to have irritated owner Evangelos Marinakis, who decided to terminate his manager's contract after only three matches into the new campaign.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Postecoglou was immediately mentioned as a potential successor to Nuno and a deal was swiftly finalized to bring the 60-year-old Australian to the City Ground.

Marinakis commented: "We are appointing a manager to the Club who possesses a demonstrated and reliable history of securing silverware. His background in managing teams at elite levels, combined with his ambition to create something extraordinary with us at Forest, positions him as an ideal candidate to support our progression and consistently fulfill our objectives.

"Following our promotion to the Premier League, then developing steadily year after year to earn European competition, we must now make the correct move to rival the elite clubs and contend for honors. Ange possesses the qualifications and experience to accomplish this, and we are thrilled he is joining our ambitious project."

Postecoglou will take charge when Forest resume play against Arsenal this weekend.

Postecoglou departed Spurs over the summer following a disappointing league season which, according to club leadership, could not be offset even by their Europa League success. Spurs concluded 17th in the Premier League table, though Postecoglou, who dealt with substantial injury problems throughout much of the season, maintained support from several key players.

Now returning to management, Postecoglou will expand upon his 76 Premier League matches as a manager, during which he achieved 31 victories, 11 draws and 34 defeats.

Arsenal will certainly present a challenging examination for Postecoglou as he returns to England's top division. A mediocre season opening—four points from three matches—has already left Forest supporters hoping for better performances.
