Anthony Gordon Backs Teammate Alexander Isak Amid Swirling Liverpool Transfer Rumors

Newcastle United's winger Anthony Gordon has expressed his solidarity with Alexander Isak regarding the current speculation about the striker's potential departure from the club.
Isak has become the target of a record-setting bid from Liverpool and appears to be considering the move to Anfield, as the club contemplates making a second offer following their initial £110 million ($145.7 million) proposal being rejected.
This transfer drama mirrors events from just a year ago when Liverpool and Newcastle engaged in similar behind-the-scenes negotiations. Due to concerns about complying with the Premier League's financial fair play rules, Liverpool had previously agreed to acquire former Everton prospect Gordon in a major transfer, but discussions eventually collapsed at the final stage.
The situation feels familiar to Gordon, who shared with the Daily Mail: "I know exactly what Alex is experiencing. What I can tell you is that it's been wonderful for me to have a summer free from transfer rumors."
Isak must now prepare to rejoin Newcastle's training sessions—a challenge Gordon acknowledged he found difficult during his own period of uncertainty in 2024.

"The situation was challenging for me because first, I had the Euros experience, which was mentally devastating," he revealed. "I was present but not getting playing time. Then came the transfer speculation. Due to PSR regulations, I believed I would be leaving during that transfer window. It never materialized.
"I needed time to process that initially, and then having to accept it again [when nothing happened] was tough.
"I'm only human. It's incredibly challenging. That's exactly why I empathize with what Alex is experiencing. I sympathize with him. He's dealing with a lot right now. The club is facing pressure too. I hope everything works out for everyone involved."
Isak's situation continues to be uncertain and may depend on Benjamin Šeško's decisions. The RB Leipzig forward has been presented with an opportunity to join St James' Park, and Newcastle maintains they won't part with their leading scorer until they secure an adequate replacement.
