Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim clearly indicated that Antony had no future at Old Trafford last season, approving his loan switch to Betis for the campaign's latter half. The Brazilian winger flourished in Seville, contributing nine goals and five assists while helping the team reach the Conference League final.
Betis supporters and teammates embraced the loan signing wholeheartedly, nicknaming him 'Antony from Triana,' treating him like a lifelong supporter from the local community.
With his return to Old Trafford unwanted, United insisted that Antony would depart permanently this summer. The Brazilian has shown visible emotion when reflecting on the difficult end to his United stint, which included over a month of separation while pushing for this transfer.
"My family is extremely pleased," the relieved 25-year-old shared, "being apart from them is incredibly difficult, and spending over 40 days alone in a hotel has been challenging. My wife was in Seville waiting, and I made it clear that Betis was my preferred destination."
