Antony Unleashes Explosive "Disrespect" Bombshell Against Manchester United

During his reflection on the difficult period he experienced at Manchester United, Antony criticized the Premier League team for showing him "disrespect."

The unpredictable Brazilian winger finally ended his troubled tenure at Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, eventually moving to Real Betis for a mere €22 million (£19.2 million, $25.8 million) on the final day of transfers. This deal likely stands as one of the most significant financial losses ever recorded by the club known for its erratic spending habits, though all involved parties were relieved to conclude the partnership.

Following his loan spell at Betis during the latter portion of the 2024–25 season, Antony made his way back to Manchester United when both clubs couldn't initially agree on permanent transfer terms. Along with other unwanted players including Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, the sidelined attacker was immediately instructed by Ruben Amorim to seek alternative employment.

Relegated to individual training routines, United's designated "outcasts" were prohibited from entering the facility until after Amorim and the main squad had departed each day.

This state of transfer uncertainty proved especially difficult and demeaning for Antony.

"Those were extremely difficult months in England, spending over 40 days in hotel accommodation while training in isolation," he shared with Onda Cero recently. "I believe they showed me disrespect, though that's beside the point. I have no intention of stirring up drama; such is life. I remain thankful to the club; there were challenging periods, but positive moments too, including two championship victories.

"My family relocated to Seville four or five days prior to the agreement being completed; I had already secured housing. I've discussed this with them; my instincts guided me back to Betis."

Antony: Joy Takes Priority Over Financial Gain

Antony was so determined to rejoin Manuel Pellegrini's squad that he declined an opportunity with Bayern Munich, which offered superior prospects both competitively and monetarily.

"I consistently prioritize contentment above all else, and I experienced great joy here," Antony explained his reasoning.

"I understand my children and spouse find happiness in this place. Prior to my decision, I consulted with my family; it's a remarkable city with wonderful people. Not only the supporters, but everyone. I focused on my well-being first, knowing that when I'm content, everything falls into place. Financial compensation matters, but personal fulfillment holds far greater value."

Following an impressive beginning to his time in Seville earlier this year—Antony remarkably secured consecutive Man of the Match honors in his initial two matches for Betis, doubling his tally from two-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League—his current campaign has started more modestly.

Antony regained his form at an unfortunate moment for Nottingham Forest, who were forced to settle for a 2–2 Europa League stalemate after the Brazilian's 85th-minute leveler the previous week.
