Arsenal Discover How Long Star Winger Noni Madueke Will Be Sidelined After Injury Blow
Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is anticipated to be sidelined for approximately two months due to a knee injury sustained during the opening half of Sunday's stalemate with Manchester City.
Following his Arsenal debut as a substitute against Manchester United in the season opener, City marked Madueke's fifth straight start spanning the Premier League and Champions League. However, what Mikel Arteta characterized as "a problem very early in the game" prevented the £52 million ($70.3 million) summer acquisition from continuing past the interval.
Madueke is now reported by The Athletic to have undergone a scan on Monday that showed damage suggesting a two-month absence that may keep him out until late November. The encouraging news is that the 23-year-old escaped a more severe season-ending ACL injury.
Bukayo Saka was the player who came on for Madueke after previously sitting out recent matches against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest due to a hamstring problem.
A two-month spell on the sidelines could see Madueke miss 10 Arsenal fixtures, plus three World Cup qualifiers and a friendly for England, potentially returning after the November international window. The Gunners are scheduled to visit Newcastle United at St James's Park on Sept. 28, and have three Champions League matches, including a meeting with Atlético Madrid, to navigate, though the fixture list is otherwise manageable.

Martin Ødegaard Provides Injury Update

Martin Ødegaard was withdrawn in the opening periods against both Leeds United and Forest due to a recurring shoulder issue, before being ruled out entirely for the City encounter.
Speaking before that match, the Arsenal captain explained the precise nature of his condition. "My shoulder was extremely painful, but I've been taking it one day at a time, working diligently. It's the same shoulder I injured in the Leeds United game, essentially the same problem, so just really unfortunate luck," Ødegaard stated in his captain's column in Sunday's matchday program.
"The initial injury recovered well, I had overcome it, but then the identical thing occurred again. It had never happened to me in 11 years, yet it occurs twice in two weeks. It's a peculiar situation, very unlucky."
