Arsenal Face Burnley: Key Predictions, Bold Lineups, and What to Expect

Arsenal Face Burnley: Key Predictions, Bold Lineups, and What to Expect

Arsenal can take another stride toward the Premier League crown when they host already-relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.

The Gunners managed to secure all three points at the London Stadium against a desperate West Ham United side last weekend, despite struggling for long stretches after a promising opening. They appeared set to drop points before Leandro Trossard struck, and Callum Wilson's dramatic stoppage-time equalizer was controversially disallowed for a foul on David Raya.

Widely regarded as the most consequential VAR decision in Premier League history, the call has significantly boosted Arsenal's title ambitions. Nevertheless, Mikel Arteta's men still need to handle their remaining fixtures over the coming week.

Burnley are already down and have managed just a single league win in 2026, though they showed real resilience to earn a point at home against Aston Villa last weekend. Now under interim boss Michael Jackson, the Clarets have endured yet another difficult Premier League season, though they've at least shown more fight this time around.

The sky blue half of Manchester City — along with most neutral fans, it must be said — will be rooting for Burnley on Monday night, hoping to inject yet another twist into this gripping title race.

Gunners Edge Closer

Leandro Trossard

Manchester City's 3–0 win over Crystal Palace means Arsenal cannot clinch the title on Monday night, but a City stumble at Bournemouth on Tuesday would hand the Gunners the championship — provided they beat the already-relegated Burnley.

The league leaders have bounced back impressively from their defeat at the Etihad Stadium last month, stringing together three consecutive wins at crucial moments to put themselves in a strong position.

Can they keep their composure against a clearly weaker opponent? Many will remember the 3–3 draw with doomed Southampton at the close of 2022–23 that derailed their title hopes that year. This current Arsenal side, however, have demonstrated over recent weeks that they possess plenty of mental fortitude.

Prediction: Arsenal 3–0 Burnley

Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs. Burnley

Arsenal lineup

Mikel Arteta has named an unchanged starting eleven for the last three games, but will be forced to make at least one alteration on Monday after Ben White was confirmed to have sustained a serious knee injury.

White will miss not only the remainder of what looks set to be a memorable end to the 2025–26 campaign for the Gunners, but also the World Cup, having recently worked his way back into Thomas Tuchel's England plans.

Jurrien Timber is not yet fit to return but could be available in time for the Champions League final, meaning Cristhian Mosquera is expected to slot in for White against Burnley.

Riccardo Calafiori remains a doubt, while Mikel Merino could yet feature before the season concludes and may return to the Arsenal bench on Monday. He has been sidelined since the turn of the year with a foot problem.

Beyond those concerns, the Gunners are in good health. With a lengthy break behind them, Arteta is unlikely to make many changes, with Myles Lewis-Skelly keeping his spot in midfield.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs. Burnley (4-2-3-1): Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapié; Lewis-Skelly, Rice; Saka, Eze, Trossard; Gyökeres.

Burnley Predicted Lineup vs. Arsenal

Burnley lineup

The visitors could name an unchanged side from last week's 2–2 home draw with Aston Villa.

Michael Jackson is expected to again be without Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts on Monday, while midfielder Josh Cullen faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury and won't feature until early next season. Hannibal Mejbri picked up a knock against Villa and is uncertain for the trip to north London.

Kyle Walker will carry extra motivation to derail Arsenal's title push, given his former ties to both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, while striker Zian Flemming arrives in decent form. The Dutchman has reached double figures in Premier League goals this season, though it wasn't enough to keep the Clarets in the top flight.

Another key attacking option, Jaidon Anthony, came through the ranks at Arsenal.

Max Weiß, 21, could be a notable figure at the Emirates Stadium, having made his first Premier League start in goal for Burnley last weekend.

Burnley predicted lineup vs. Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Weiß; Walker, Tuanzebe, Estève, Pires; Luís, Ugochukwu; Tchaouna, Amdouni, Anthony; Flemming.
