Arsenal are struggling after consecutive losses in domestic cup competitions, and a challenging trip to Portugal to face Sporting CP awaits Mikel Arteta's squad.
Sporting haven't lost at home since last August and are gearing up for their first Champions League quarterfinal since the competition's relaunch, having pulled off a remarkable turnaround against Bodø/Glimt in the round of 16.
The Gunners eventually overcame Bayer Leverkusen after a 1–1 draw in the away first leg, and are now chasing a semifinal spot for the second year running.
However, the collapse of their quadruple and then their brief treble ambitions within a fortnight has allowed uncertainty to grow over just how successful their season will ultimately be.
Gabriel Chief Among Arsenal's Injury Concerns

Arteta was visibly subdued when discussing the knee injury Gabriel sustained at Southampton on Saturday, with the Arsenal manager indicating it's "never good news" when a player has to come off. The full extent of the injury remains unknown, but the tight schedule following the weekend's FA Cup loss means the Brazilian could be absent on Tuesday.
On a more positive note, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, both of whom stepped away from England duty due to fitness concerns, were simply given a rest on Saturday and are expected to return to the Arsenal side midweek.
Jurriën Timber was nearing a return ahead of the Carabao Cup final, so he stands a reasonable chance of not only making the trip to Lisbon but also earning a starting role. There is more uncertainty surrounding Piero Hincapié, who picked up a hamstring problem on international duty, while Eberechi Eze and Mikel Merino are definite absentees.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs. Sporting CP (4-3-3)

GK: David Raya—Following two consecutive appearances with Kepa Arrizabalaga between the posts, David Raya is certain to reclaim his starting position in Lisbon. The Spaniard has featured in all but one of Arsenal's Champions League games in 2025–26.
RB: Jurriën Timber—Ben White's setback on Saturday will accelerate Arteta's eagerness to have Timber back fit and available. The Dutchman has been sidelined since the memorable victory over Everton with an undisclosed problem.
CB: Cristhian Mosquera—Arteta has left-footed alternatives to cover for Gabriel, but he's more likely to turn to Mosquera, who partnered the Brazilian at St. Mary's and bailed him out on a couple of occasions.
CB: William Saliba—Saliba was among the numerous Gunners who withdrew from international duty, with the Frenchman reportedly managing an ankle complaint. Nevertheless, he was fit enough to come off the bench against Southampton.
LB: Riccardo Calafiori—Myles Lewis-Skelly continues to find it difficult when handed opportunities to shine, so Calafiori is the clear choice to fill in for Hincapié here.
CM: Martín Zubimendi—The Spanish midfielder was fit enough to contribute at the weekend, and Arsenal are eager for another upturn in performance from their midfield anchor.
CM: Declan Rice—Arsenal are a considerably different side without their all-action midfield lynchpin, so his return from a minor fitness concern will be a major boost in Lisbon against a technically gifted Sporting midfield.
CM: Martin Ødegaard—The time has come for the skipper to step up in what has been a largely underwhelming personal campaign so far.
RW: Bukayo Saka—Saka has found form hard to come by in 2026, yet the England international has so frequently delivered for the Gunners on the biggest occasions in this tournament.
ST: Viktor Gyökeres—The Swede goes up against his former club on Tuesday, having made a massive impact on Portuguese football during his hugely prolific time in Lisbon. Gyökeres got on the scoresheet on Saturday after helping fire his nation to the World Cup.
LW: Gabriel Martinelli—Martinelli appears to have avoided further disciplinary action for shoving referee Sam Barrott on Saturday, meaning he could retain his place ahead of the uncertain Leandro Trossard.
