Arsenal Make Major Breakthrough in Viktor Gyokeres Pursuit

Arsenal have reached a personal agreement with Viktor Gyökeres and are engaged in "advanced negotiations" with Sporting CP concerning the transfer fee for the highly sought-after striker, multiple sources report.
The chase for Gyökeres has dominated Arsenal's transfer discussions throughout this summer window. An impressive tally of 97 goals in 102 matches for Sporting has elevated the former Brighton and Coventry City attacker to extraordinary levels of interest from top clubs.
Previously viewed as a primary target for clubs like Manchester United, Juventus and Atlético Madrid, it now seems that Gyökeres is close to securing a move to Arsenal. The North London club has successfully negotiated personal terms with the player for a five-year deal, according to The Athletic, while conversations with Sporting regarding an appropriate transfer sum are "advancing".
Mikel Arteta's team are "moving closer" to completing this much-anticipated transfer following additional discussions with the Portuguese champions on Sunday, as initially reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Sporting president Frederico Varandas has clearly stated that his club will not be pressured or coerced into accepting a reduced price for their star player. Early suggestions of a transfer valued at merely £59.7 million ($82 million) were quickly rejected by Sporting's leadership, though they will not insist on the full £85.3 million ($117.1 million) release clause being activated.
Despite these numerous reports suggesting an imminent signing, BBC Sport recommended exercising "some caution" until the negotiations reach completion.
Arteta is believed to be eager to secure a new striker's arrival before Arsenal commence their pre-season training for the upcoming Premier League season. Martín Zubimendi's long-anticipated signing was officially announced by the consistent title contenders on Sunday, strengthening Arsenal's midfield foundation.
Though the Spanish midfielder's addition will be appreciated once his understated impact becomes more apparent throughout the season, Arsenal's need for a new striker has reached a critical point among eager supporters.
Sports Illustrated surveyed over 24,000 fans of the North London outfit this month, with a striking 88% expressing concern that no new center-forward had been signed.
However, these concerns may soon be addressed.
