Arsenal Prepares Official Contract Proposal to Secure Rising Star Ethan Nwaneri
Arsenal are reportedly growing "increasingly confident" about securing a long-term deal with teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri, who has broken multiple records.
This development comes after recent doubts surrounding the young winger's future, with reports even suggesting that Premier League competitors Chelsea might attempt an opportunistic move to lure him away.
Nwaneri's current deal expires next summer, and his representatives were said to have sought specific assurances during what were characterized as "sensitive" contract talks.
However, any previous tensions seem to be easing, and the Daily Mail now indicates that Arsenal are prepared to offer either a five-year agreement or a four-year contract with an additional year option. While no final agreement has been reached, sporting director Andrea Berta remains "optimistic," and both parties appear willing to find "mutual understanding" in their discussions.
Nwaneri has been part of Arsenal's academy since he was eight years old, representing more than half his lifetime with the club. He made his debut for the Under-18 squad at just 14 and earned his senior team debut merely one year later.
That memorable appearance against Brentford in September 2022, at 15 years and 181 days old, established him as both Arsenal's youngest ever player and the youngest to ever compete in England's top division. The previous national record had remained untouched for 58 years since 1964, while he surpassed Arsenal's previous benchmark set by Cesc Fàbregas at 16 years and 177 days in 2003 by nearly a full year.
Now 18, Nwaneri experienced a breakthrough campaign in 2024–25, featuring in 37 matches across all tournaments and contributing 11 goals and assists combined.
His extended period as a regular starter in early 2025 occurred mainly due to covering for the injured Bukayo Saka. Although his opportunities became limited in the season's closing stages when Saka regained fitness, Nwaneri is expected to maintain an important role in the upcoming season.
