Arsenal Push for Viktor Gyokeres Deal as Transfer Talks Reach Critical Stage

Arsenal remain optimistic about completing the acquisition of Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres before their pre-season tour begins, even though recent Portuguese media reports have cast uncertainty over the transfer.
Earlier this week, news broke that Arsenal and Sporting had established a preliminary understanding regarding Gyökeres, with the North London club prepared to offer an upfront payment of €63.5 million (£55.1 million, $75.1 million) alongside an additional €10 million (£8.7 million, $11.7 million) in performance-based add-ons.
Given that personal terms between Arsenal and Gyökeres had already been settled, it seemed this protracted transfer story, featuring player strikes and blackmail allegations, was nearing its climactic end, though Record indicates there might be one last twist.
Both clubs continue discussions to determine the structure of the proposed €10 million bonus payments, yet they remain considerably apart in their positions.

Sporting insist on virtually guaranteed conditions, whereas Arsenal prefer more intricate, uncertain arrangements that might allow them to circumvent paying the complete amount. Discussions reached a complete impasse on Monday night and "face the possibility of total breakdown".
While the transfer remains viable currently, there's believed to be substantial disagreement between both parties. Should negotiations fail, Gyökeres is anticipated to voice his frustrations publicly.
Responding to the report on Sky Sports News, David Ornstein from The Athletic verified that consensus on the add-ons hasn't been achieved yet and mentioned that "strained" talks continue with hopes of reaching complete agreement within days.
Gyökeres has clearly expressed his unwillingness to return to Sporting, having declined to attend pre-season training, while Sporting chairman Frederico Varandas has stated his readiness to penalize Gyökeres and retain him if Arsenal fails to satisfy their requirements.
