Arsenal Receives Crucial Injury News on Star Duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka appears to have avoided a major injury setback, with reports suggesting his hamstring problem that forced his substitution during the commanding 5–0 victory against Leeds United is less severe than originally thought.

The North London club dominated the recently promoted team at their home ground, with new summer acquisition Viktor Gyökeres netting his maiden brace in England's top flight.

However, the triumph came with concerns. Saka was substituted early in the second period after experiencing discomfort following a quick run. The winger had to pass on the captain's duties, which he had assumed when Martin Ødegaard was also withdrawn due to his own fitness concern in the closing stages of the opening half.

Mikel Arteta confessed he hadn't yet consulted with Arsenal's medical staff before addressing journalists post-match, indicating that Saka's problem appeared particularly "significant."

Nevertheless, by Sunday, The Times reported that "preliminary assessments" for both players indicate their injuries are "less severe" than initially anticipated.

The upcoming Liverpool clash, a crucial encounter scheduled for Aug. 31, might still arrive too early for their return. However, the overall outlook appears more positive for Arteta as both Saka and Ødegaard seem likely to face only brief spells on the sidelines, avoiding the extended injury layoffs they endured during the previous campaign.

The international fixture period directly follows the Anfield visit, with the Gunners not returning to competitive action until Sep. 13 when they face Burnley.

Arsenal have invested heavily in seven new players during the summer window, with Eberechi Eze being the most recent addition following his £67.5 million ($91.3 million) transfer from Crystal Palace.

"We're only two weeks in and we've already seen Kai [Havertz], Martin and Bukayo sidelined, which demonstrates just how well-prepared you need to be in this competition to cope and sustain our desired standards," Arteta reflected on Saturday night.
