Arsenal Seal Stunning $46 Million Deal to Land Their Next Trossard!

Arsenal have struck a deal with Club Brugge to acquire Christos Tzolis for $46 million (€40 million, £34 million), bringing in a replacement for the recently sold Leandro Trossard.

The Premier League champions have already bolstered their title-winning squad with the permanent acquisition of Piero Hincapié and backup goalkeeper Illan Meslier, and Tzolis will represent their first attacking addition of this transfer window.

Having recently allowed Trossard to depart for Turkish powerhouse Beşiktaş in a $22.9 million (£17.1 million) deal, Arsenal have moved swiftly to secure his long-term replacement.

The Athletic has reported that the Gunners are "finalizing a move" for Club Brugge's 24-year-old winger, who has prior Premier League experience from a two-year stint at Norwich City.

Tzolis was not necessarily Arsenal's top target, however, as the club reportedly made an approach to Juventus regarding Türkiye star Kenan Yıldız. The Turin club promptly indicated the 21-year-old is unavailable for transfer.

What Will Tzolis Offer Arsenal?

The Greece international's statistics tell a compelling story. After a difficult spell as a teenager with Norwich City in England, Tzolis moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany and quickly flourished in the second division, scoring 24 goals in 37 appearances throughout the 2023–24 campaign.

Club Brugge wasted no time in signing him and were promptly rewarded, with Tzolis recording 35 goal contributions in his first season in Belgium. The following season proved even more impressive, with the versatile wide player racking up 51 goals and assists across all competitions—eight of which came in the Champions League.

The forward is capable of playing on either wing, though he typically prefers the left side. This makes him a natural like-for-like replacement for Trossard and sets up a competition with new teammate Gabriel Martinelli, whose long-term future at the club remains somewhat uncertain.

Tzolis possesses blistering pace and relentless intensity in the attacking third, though a return to the Premier League will be the true measure of his ability. In Belgium's Pro League last season, he topped the rankings for assists (23), chances created (135), and big chances created (25).

Arteta will also expect Tzolis to put in considerable defensive work off the ball, and that is undoubtedly one of the player's key attributes. No Club Brugge player won back possession more often in the attacking third on average last season, while a team-leading six yellow cards indicates his willingness to compete fiercely.

Arsenal are unlikely to stop strengthening their attack with the 34-cap international, however. The Gunners continue to hold interest in England's Morgan Rogers, with The Athletic noting that the pursuit of Tzolis is separate from any potential move for Aston Villa's coveted star.

Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola is also on their radar, while a move for ambitious target Julián Alvarez cannot be entirely dismissed.
