Arsenal Set to Unleash Exciting Double Return Against Bournemouth: Full Injury Update and Predicted Lineup Revealed

Arsenal welcome Bournemouth in a tricky Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Gunners secured a slender 1–0 victory away at Sporting CP in the opening leg of their Champions League quarterfinal, ahead of a pivotal second leg at home next Wednesday. In the meantime, Mikel Arteta faces the challenging task of outsmarting his childhood friend to keep Manchester City at arm's length in a finely balanced Premier League title race.

Andoni Iraola spent many hours playing alongside Arteta for the same Basque youth side, and the two remain close. However, that friendship won't prevent the Cherries manager from attempting to dampen Arsenal's hopes at the Emirates this weekend.

City have the ability to trim the gap at the Premier League summit to just three points, leaving the current leaders with little margin for error down the stretch. Arteta must also keep the club's ambitious European campaign in mind when selecting his squad on Saturday, which may mean more rotation than he'd typically use against a Bournemouth side that has gone unbeaten since their last encounter with Arsenal back in January.

Taking Arteta's injury updates at face value is a risky business. This is a manager known to snatch crutches from his players as they step off the team bus, all to keep opponents guessing about their availability for a few extra minutes.

With that caveat in mind, Arteta suggested that Bukayo Saka and Jurriën Timber could be available to feature in some capacity against Bournemouth. "Hopefully they're going to be ready for the weekend, if everything goes well," the Basque manager told reporters.

"That's a massive boost because in recent days we've lost so many important players and that's something that we need to change immediately."

Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze remain on the sidelines, while Piero Hincapié's availability is still in doubt.

Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs. Bournemouth (4-3-3)

Mikel Arteta's XI.

GK: David Raya—When Raya missed three months through injury at Brentford, he celebrated his return to training by showing up in an inflatable dinosaur costume. Arsenal's very own prehistoric predator will be eager to mark Raya's homecoming at the Emirates this weekend.

RB: Ben White—Arsenal's embattled right back could use some time away from the spotlight. After being jeered on international duty, scoring, giving away a penalty, and then turning in a pair of dismal club performances, White would welcome a low-key afternoon.

CB: William Saliba—Arsenal's team-building activities have included group visits to escape rooms, where players work together to crack puzzles under time pressure. "They were competitive," Saliba admitted. "I don't know why but I'm not the best at these games."

CB: Cristhian Mosquera—The well-rounded 21-year-old has interests that extend well beyond football. "I studied sports science before," he told The Guardian earlier this season, "but I've started an online university degree in interior design. It's something I've always found attractive and I thought: 'Why not?'"

LB: Myles Lewis-Skelly—Despite a breakthrough 2024–25 campaign, Lewis-Skelly has managed just one Premier League start this season. Saturday could hand him his second.

CM: Kai Havertz—"Back in the day I wasn't the player who won duels and everything," the slender forward recently reflected, "but right now I love it." He'll need to channel that combative spirit against Bournemouth's tenacious midfield.

CM: Christian Nørgaard—The weight of signing for Arsenal proved too much for Nørgaard to contain. Upon seeing his young son wearing his first-ever Arsenal replica shirt with his name on the back, the summer signing pulled him into a long embrace and quietly wept into the back of his neck.

CM: Declan Rice—"The good thing with Declan," Arteta often says, "is he's so consistent, so reliable. He's always there." Bournemouth will be hoping for a rare exception.

RW: Max Dowman—It's been a whirlwind few days for the teenager: a start in the FA Cup, becoming the youngest player ever to appear in a Champions League knockout tie, and sitting his GCSE mock exams. The week could yet conclude with a first Premier League start.

ST: Gabriel Jesus—In 2018, Jesus became the first Brazilian No. 9 since Zinho in 1994 to go scoreless at a World Cup. He drew another blank in 2022 and may well miss the tournament altogether this summer.

LW: Gabriel Martinelli—By the time Saturday arrives, Arsenal's winger will have managed just one Premier League goal across the previous 11 months.
