Arsenal's Premier League title defense continues at Villa Park, where Mikel Arteta's side face a struggling Aston Villa outfit on Monday evening.
The Gunners carried their momentum from last season, cruising past Manchester City in the Community Shield and Coventry City in their opening league fixture. The reigning English champions netted three goals in both games while keeping back-to-back clean sheets.
Arsenal will look to maintain their impressive form against Unai Emery's depleted squad, who are still reeling from a difficult transfer window and an embarrassing 4–0 thrashing at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Arteta remains without the injured Jurriën Timber and William Saliba, but could have two significant additions available on Monday. New recruit and former Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa is fit to feature, while Bruno Guimarães has resumed training after recovering from a groin problem.
Here's who Arteta could field for the Premier League encounter.
Arsenal Predicted Lineup vs. Aston Villa
GK: David Raya—The newly crowned World Cup winner is chasing a fourth straight Premier League Golden Glove. Raya will aim to record three clean sheets from three games to open the campaign.
RB: Ben White—As long as Timber remains on the sidelines, the right flank is White's to own. The England international contributed an assist last weekend and will be eager to deliver another solid performance after an inconsistent 2025–26 season.
CB: Cristhian Mosquera—The Spaniard's time in Arteta's starting XI may be limited, but he is the likely starter at Villa Park given that Konsa hasn't featured since July 18.
CB: Gabriel—The center-back played every minute of Arsenal's opening two fixtures in 2026–27 and is set for another full 90 in Birmingham.
LB: Riccardo Calafiori—Despite Piero Hincapié's defensive qualities, Calafiori offers more going forward. The fullback has already contributed a goal and an assist across two appearances this season.
CM: Martin Ødegaard—Arsenal's skipper is seeking a redemption season and has started well. The Norway international found the net in both the City and Coventry fixtures.
CM: Myles Lewis-Skelly—With Guimarães's fitness still uncertain, Lewis-Skelly has a chance to earn a third straight start. Martín Zubimendi remains an option, though the Spaniard appears to have slipped down Arteta's selection hierarchy.
CM: Declan Rice—Many felt the midfielder deserved the 2025–26 PFA Player of the Year award for his role in Arsenal's Premier League title win. Rice, however, is undoubtedly more focused on helping the Gunners add to their trophy haul this season than on personal accolades.
RW: Bukayo Saka—Arsenal continue to manage Saka carefully, but he still opened his seasonal account within just 23 minutes against Coventry. Monday's match will be his 315th appearance in an Arsenal shirt.
ST: Kai Havertz—With two goals in two games this season, it's difficult to leave Havertz out. Viktor Gyökeres will likely have to settle for a spot on the bench once again.
LW: Christos Tzolis—The summer arrival was expected to serve as a squad option, but Tzolis has hit the ground running in Arsenal colors. The 24-year-old set up two goals in the Community Shield victory and has made the left wing his own as Gabriel Martinelli edges closer to the exit door.
