Arsenal Target Premier League Star to Replace Thomas Partey in Major Squad Overhaul

Arsenal is preparing for Thomas Partey's anticipated exit, with reports suggesting Brentford's Christian Nørgaard could serve as a potential replacement.

Partey's deal concludes at month's end, and although both parties wish to continue their partnership, Arsenal has failed to secure terms with the Ghanaian midfielder, who appears set to leave as a free agent this summer.

With Jorginho already departed, Partey's probable exit would create a midfield shortage for Arsenal. While Real Sociedad's Martín Zubimendi is reportedly close to joining the Emirates, The Mirror indicates that Nørgaard is being evaluated as additional reinforcement.

The Brentford captain impressed at the Gtech Community Stadium under previous boss Thomas Frank, who has since moved to manage Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal may look to capitalize on Brentford's transitional period.

The Danish midfielder extended his deal two weeks following his 31st birthday in March, committing to Brentford through 2027, though his age could make Nørgaard an economically sensible target, despite uncertainty about his interest in such a move.

Following their managerial change, Brentford anticipates further transfer market disruption. Striker Bryan Mbeumo has caught the attention of both Manchester United and Tottenham, while his attacking partner Yoane Wissa is also generating considerable interest.

Consequently, Brentford might resist offers for another crucial player like Nørgaard, who would probably need to formally request a departure for the Bees to consider negotiations.

With Zubimendi's expected arrival, Arsenal primarily requires squad depth this summer, as the Spanish midfielder will likely form a partnership with Declan Rice in Mikel Arteta's midfield foundation. Club skipper Martin Ødegaard rounds out the first-choice trio.

Mikel Merino, Zubimendi's ex-teammate at Real Sociedad, remains the sole other natural midfielder currently in Arteta's roster, emphasizing the necessity for summer additions.
