Arsenal's Champions League Final Hopes Hanging by a Thread as Injury Crisis Deepens

The freshly minted Premier League champions still have unfinished business, with Arsenal eyeing the Champions League trophy as the ultimate prize before the curtain falls on their season.

The task ahead is far from straightforward, however. Defending European champions Paris Saint-Germain await them at Budapest's Puskás Aréna, with the French giants aiming to become only the ninth club in history to successfully defend football's most prestigious continental crown.

In previous campaigns, Arsenal have been plagued by injury issues in the closing stages of the season. Last summer's transfer activity may have alleviated some of those worries, but Arteta still finds himself dealing with a number of key players in doubt as Saturday's showpiece event draws near, including Noni Madueke.

The latest news on the Englishman, who earned a place in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, is encouraging, however.

Every Arsenal Injury Concern Before Champions League Final

Noni Madueke

Arsenal had already secured the Premier League crown when they made the trip to Crystal Palace on the final day of the campaign. What was meant to be a celebration turned tense when winger Noni Madueke went down clutching his hamstring.

Early indications suggested that Madueke, who appeared in good spirits during Arsenal's title celebrations after the final whistle, had escaped serious harm, and that assessment has since been supported by a report from The Athletic.

His substitution against Palace was a precautionary measure driven largely by cramp, meaning there is little concern over his availability for the clash with PSG on Saturday.

Jurriën Timber

Mikel Merino's return from a foot injury against Palace was a boost for Arsenal supporters, but right back Jurriën Timber was not afforded the same fortune, having been sidelined since mid-March.

"He's still a little further behind," was Arteta's verdict when drawing comparisons between Timber's recovery and Merino's. While the manager was keen to leave the door open for a return, the prospect of Timber featuring against PSG looks remote.

A place on the bench might be on the cards if his recovery progresses as hoped, but it is hard to envisage Arteta thrusting Timber straight back into action after such a lengthy absence.

Ben White

When Ben White sustained a knee injury in early May, he was visibly emotional as the full weight of the situation hit him.

Reports indicate that White has not suffered any career-threatening damage, but the right back will nonetheless require a significant period of recovery. Not only has the injury ruled him out of the Champions League final, but his World Cup aspirations were also quickly extinguished.

White was seen wearing a knee brace during Arsenal's Premier League title celebrations. A return to action is not imminent, though there is optimism that he could resume training at some stage during preseason — although that timeline will depend on how the coming weeks of his rehabilitation unfold, and could easily stretch into the 2026–27 season should he encounter any complications.
