Noni Madueke departed England's 1–1 stalemate against Uruguay on Friday wearing a knee brace, having hobbled off the pitch during the opening half.
In the 33rd minute, the Arsenal winger was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Rodrigo Aguirre and needed extended treatment on the field. He tried to play on but dropped to the ground shortly after, making it evident he could not continue.
Early fears suggested Madueke might have sustained a head injury during his initial fall—at one stage he was spotted clutching his jaw—but the problem appears to be with his knee, as the Arsenal forward made his way through the mixed zone with significant support on the joint.
England manager Thomas Tuchel offered no update on Madueke's condition post-match, stating only that the winger would require additional assessments to gauge the extent of the injury. He is anticipated to leave the squad in the coming days.

Arsenal Can Ill-Afford Further Attacking Setbacks

One of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's chief objectives last summer was to assemble a well-stocked squad capable of rotating effectively in pursuit of trophies. Bringing Madueke in from Chelsea to provide cover for star winger Bukayo Saka was central to that strategy.
Madueke made a bright start to the campaign while Saka was sidelined with injury, but has since had to settle into a backup role following his international teammate's return. He has accumulated just 12 Premier League starts this season, contributing two goals and one assist.
There have been calls for Madueke to be handed more playing time, especially with Saka failing to hit his usual high standards this season, but Arteta has continued to favour the latter.
Without the ability to alternate between Saka and Madueke, Arteta's vision of a deep, rotatable squad could quickly unravel—especially given the existing injury worries throughout Arsenal's attacking ranks.
Leandro Trossard was among several players to pull out of international duty through injury. Should the Belgian fail to recover in time for the resumption of club football and Madueke require a stint on the sidelines, Arsenal would be left with only two senior wide options in Saka and the polarising Gabriel Martinelli. Sixteen-year-old Max Dowman would instantly become the main backup.
For a side still in contention for three trophies, such a lack of depth would be a serious headache for Arteta. Neither Saka nor Martinelli have been particularly convincing this season, yet Arteta would have little choice but to rely on both until Trossard and Madueke are fit again.
The heat is already on Arsenal following their Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City, who are breathing down the Gunners' necks at the summit of the Premier League. Further injury blows at this critical juncture of the season could prove devastating.
