Arteta's Doubled Arsenal Paycheck Revealed: How Does He Stack Up Against Premier League's Top Bosses?

Arsenal have handed Mikel Arteta a new deal running until 2030, reportedly worth twice his previous salary, making him the highest-earning manager in the Premier League.

"It's an honour to commit my future to this club and to keep working alongside outstanding people who want nothing but the best for Arsenal," Arteta said after the club's worst-kept secret was finally made official on Wednesday.

"This club is one of a kind — its character and the way it makes you feel are truly special. I feel incredibly fortunate that our journey together will go on. We've already forged a remarkable bond and created memories that will last forever, and what's most exciting is that this is just the start of what we can accomplish together."

Arteta is now believed to earn in excess of £20 million ($26.4 million) per season across a deal spanning the next four years, according to The Times.

The Premier League's Highest Paid Managers

With the departure of Pep Guardiola, the Premier League's former top earner, Arteta now stands in a wage bracket entirely his own. The Arsenal boss also surpasses some of the biggest names in world football, with only Atlético Madrid's Diego Simeone and Paris Saint-Germain's back-to-back Champions League winner Luis Enrique coming anywhere close to matching his earnings.

Interestingly, the second-highest-paid manager in the Premier League is believed to be based just across north London. Tottenham Hotspur's Roberto De Zerbi currently finds himself at the bottom of the top-flight standings, though his salary tells a very different story. Spurs were in a desperate situation when they pursued the Italian coach last spring, staring down the threat of relegation with the ineffective Igor Tudor at the helm.

As the transfer window demonstrated, De Zerbi secured considerable influence over major spending decisions, which has also translated into his own earnings, with an annual salary of £12 million ($15.9 million), according to ESPN.

Liverpool's Andoni Iraola agreed a yearly package worth £10 million ($13.2 million) after departing Bournemouth, the same source has reported. Enzo Maresca is believed to take home a comparable figure at Manchester City, though his move from Chelsea came at a significant cost.

After entering talks with Guardiola's former assistant before he ultimately left Chelsea, City reportedly agreed to pay €20 million ($22.8 million) in compensation to facilitate the deal.
