Arsenal and Aston Villa wrap up the second round of fixtures in the 2026–27 Premier League campaign when the two sides meet at Villa Park on Monday.
The Gunners eased to a comfortable win over Coventry City last weekend but now face a considerably stiffer challenge—at least on paper—against a Villa outfit that secured fourth place in the Premier League last term. That said, drawing comparisons between that squad and the weakened group currently at Unai Emery's disposal may not be entirely fair.
Villa have seen several key players depart this summer, most notably star centre-back Ezri Konsa, who joined Arsenal, and they were made to suffer for that unsettlement as they were hammered 4–0 by Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend. A strong bounce-back is now essential.
That will be of little worry to Arsenal, who are aiming to join Manchester City, Hull City and Chelsea as the only clubs to have won both of their opening fixtures. A two-goal victory would even be enough for Mikel Arteta's men to reclaim first place in the standings at this early point in the campaign.
