Ballon d'Or 2025: Every Star Vying for Football's Ultimate Prize

The complete roster of male and female Ballon d'Or 2025 contenders has been announced prior to the September awards ceremony.

Leading both categories are exceptional performers from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal following their Champions League victories in the men's and women's tournaments respectively. Barcelona stars across both divisions also comprise a significant portion of the shortlist, featuring names like Lamine Yamal, Alexia Putellas, Pedri, Aitana Bonmatí and others.

Previous year's champion, Manchester City midfielder Rodri, is absent from the nominations after sustaining an ACL injury last September that sidelined him for a considerable duration. Consequently, a fresh men's champion will be selected this year.

Dembélé, Yamal, Raphinha and Salah are the frontrunners to claim the men's prize, though Dembélé leads the field following their inaugural Champions League triumph in Munich with a dominant 5–0 victory over Inter Milan. PSG also secured Ligue 1 and their domestic cup with impressive displays.

Yamal and Raphinha spearhead Barcelona's representation due to their exceptional displays throughout a domestic treble under Hansi Flick's debut campaign. However, their European disappointments likely diminish their prospects compared to the PSG sensation.

Salah was an initial frontrunner for the accolade given Liverpool's excellence under Arne Slot's inaugural season leading to a Premier League crown, but falling short in the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup probably damaged the Egyptian's chances.
