Ballon d'Or 2025: Which Elite Clubs Are Battling for Ultimate Glory?

The shortlist for the 2025 Men's Club of the Year honor has been announced, featuring five contenders.
Last year's champions Real Madrid are notably absent from this year's selection following a challenging season, while their Spanish counterparts Barcelona emerge as strong contenders for the accolade after their commanding march to domestic glory.
Barcelona has yet to claim this distinction since its inception in 2021, a situation shared by Liverpool, who are eager to secure additional hardware following their impressive Premier League dominance under Arne Slot's guidance.
European champions Paris Saint-Germain secure their nomination for the prestigious award, joined by Chelsea, who delivered a remarkable upset against the French side in this summer's Club World Cup final. The London club claimed the maiden award in 2021 and has the opportunity to become only the second organization to capture the honor twice, after Manchester City's consecutive victories in 2022 and 2023.
South American powerhouse Botafogo, who triumphed in the 2024 Copa Libertadores, completes the men's category nominations.
Both Chelsea and Barcelona feature among the contenders for the Women's Club of the Year recognition, competing alongside Women's Champions League victors Arsenal. French side Lyon and American outfit Orlando Pride complete the five-club selection.
