Barcelona Drop Bombshell: Dani Olmo Faces Extended Injury Nightmare

Barcelona have announced that Dani Olmo will be out of action for approximately four weeks following a shoulder injury sustained during Tuesday's 3–1 victory against Atlético Madrid.

The Spanish midfielder played a pivotal role in Barça's comeback triumph at Camp Nou, netting his team's second goal of the night, but suffered the injury during his celebration and had to exit the match immediately. Olmo, who netted twice against Deportivo Alavés the previous weekend, dislocated his left shoulder when he hit the ground after beating Jan Oblak from within the box.

The 27-year-old rescued Robert Lewandowski's reputation after the Polish striker sent a penalty over the crossbar with the match tied, and La Blaugrana will deeply feel the absence of their prolific attacking midfielder throughout the holiday season.

Barça disclosed details of Olmo's injury via X, stating that a "conservative treatment approach has been selected" for his rehabilitation. They confirmed the anticipated layoff is roughly one month, meaning he'll miss half a dozen fixtures.

Olmo will be unavailable for La Liga encounters against Real Betis (A), Osasuna (H), Villarreal (A) and Espanyol (A), plus the Copa del Rey round of 32 fixture and Champions League meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt (H) in December.

Barça will be hoping to have Olmo fit for the Supercopa de España semifinal when they face Athletic Club in Saudi Arabia on Jan. 7, 2026.

Olmo Makes Injury Vow

Olmo maintained a positive outlook regarding his recent injury, declaring the setback will only "make him stronger" in a social media post.

"It ain't gonna stop me. Thank you for your support, Culers. This small setback will only make me stronger. My desire and enthusiasm remain intact. We're all in this together for the final stretch of the year. Força Barça," posted Olmo.

Barça will be keen to maintain their momentum before Olmo's comeback as they navigate a competitive title battle with Real Madrid. La Blaugrana currently sit atop La Liga following a series of draws for Xabi Alonso's team, though they hold just a single-point advantage over their arch-rivals.

The two clubs could meet in the Supercopa de España final, though their next La Liga encounter will take place at Camp Nou in May.

Pedri Eases Injury Fears With Two-Word Message

Olmo wasn't the sole injury worry from the Atléti victory, as midfield maestro Pedri also picked up a knock. The 23-year-old, who predictably was central to Barça's finest passages of play, was substituted just eight minutes after his fellow Spaniard left the field holding his shoulder.

Pedri has already been sidelined for a month due to injury this campaign and Barça cannot afford to lose their primary creative force once more, but the Spaniard's social media post following the final whistle has eased concerns.

Pedri shared an image of himself and his Barça colleagues celebrating Raphinha's leveler, which the midfielder set up, with the message: "All good!"

Hansi Flick should have his key midfielder ready for the weekend's journey to Real Betis.
