Barcelona Drop Bombshell on Lamine Yamal's Devastating Injury Crisis

Barcelona has announced that Lamine Yamal will be sidelined for approximately two to three weeks after re-injuring his groin during the match against Paris Saint-Germain, which means he'll be unavailable for Spain's October international fixtures.

The young talent initially sustained the groin problem while on international duty in September. This led to him missing four matches between September 18-25 before making his comeback in last week's triumph over Real Sociedad. The Barcelona sensation played in Wednesday's clash with Paris Saint-Germain but was observed leaving the venue with a noticeable limp despite completing the full 90 minutes.

"Lamine Yamal's groin issue has resurfaced after the PSG encounter. He will be absent for the Sevilla fixture, with his expected recovery period being two to three weeks," Barcelona announced on Friday.

What's the Timeline for Lamine Yamal's Return From This Groin Setback?

Lamine Yamal

Yamal won't be available for Spain's forthcoming World Cup qualifying encounters against Georgia and Bulgaria. Luckily for Barcelona, Sunday's fixture against Sevilla marks their final game before October 18.

The goal is to have Yamal completely fit for the season's first El Clásico, according to Mundo Deportivo. Barcelona will travel to the Santiago Bernábeu to take on Real Madrid on October 26. Should Yamal remain out until that point, he would be absent for Barcelona's following three fixtures, along with Spain's two qualifying matches.

De La Fuente Taken Aback by Flick's Remarks

Luis de la Fuent

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick publicly criticized the Spanish national team's management of Yamal's initial injury.

Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente addressed Flick's accusations following Yamal's recent injury, stating he was "taken aback" by Flick's comments.

"I'm always honest. What occurred was that after the game concluded, he experienced some discomfort. But I've never competed without some form of discomfort. Nothing serious happened. Our medical team explained the situation, as did I. That's all there is to it. Did he experience discomfort post-match? Well, I'm not certain.

"In our setup, the risk is minimal. Anyone who joins us arrives in good health and proper condition to compete. When they're sent back, it's because we've decided they shouldn't remain due to potential risks."
