Barcelona Finalizes Deal to Offload Surplus Striker

Barcelona have finalized a deal with SC Braga that will see backup forward Pau Víctor move to the Portuguese top flight.
The Athletic's Pol Ballús reported that Braga will pay €12 million ($14.1 million) with an additional €3 million ($3.5 million) in performance-related bonuses to secure the 23-year-old Víctor.
Barcelona are also seeking to include a repurchase option, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Only individual contract terms remain to be finalized before the player departs for Portugal.
Víctor found himself third in line behind Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres in Hansi Flick's attacking hierarchy last season. With new arrival Marcus Rashford also able to feature in that role, playing time would have been extremely limited for Víctor if he had remained in Barcelona.
Nevertheless, Barcelona refused to consider a temporary loan arrangement for the young Spanish player. The club would only consider permanent sale offers that matched their valuation of Víctor's market value. Multiple Spanish clubs showed interest, but Portuguese side Braga emerged as the winning bidder.
Víctor excelled with Barça Atlètic during 2023–24, while temporarily on loan from Girona. His impressive displays convinced Barcelona to secure his services permanently last summer, and he immediately delivered by netting three times in Barça's opening two pre-season matches twelve months ago.
Nevertheless, he struggled to establish himself as a regular once competitive fixtures began, and with Barcelona requiring funds to complete registration of their new acquisitions, Víctor became surplus to requirements.
When the deal is confirmed, Victor will become Barcelona's fourth departure this summer alongside Álex Valle, Ansu Fati and Pablo Torre, with additional exits anticipated before the campaign begins.
