Barcelona Finally Sets Camp Nou Homecoming After Two Years in Exile
Barcelona will formally return to competitive action at Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday, November 22, marking the conclusion of over two years of absence due to ongoing renovations.
The Spanish club will take on Athletic Club this weekend at their legendary stadium following a trial run earlier this month, where approximately 23,000 supporters attended an open practice session before the venue's reopening.
The current La Liga title holders last competed at Camp Nou on May 28, 2023. Barcelona had initially planned to return before 2024 ended, however multiple delayed timelines forced the squad to conduct most of their home fixtures at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.
Barcelona had the opportunity to return in October, but the Phase 1A permit at that time restricted attendance to 25,991 which the organization considered inadequate from an economic standpoint. The updated Phase 1B permit raises the potential spectator count to 45,401.
Which Sections of Camp Nou Are Available for Fans?

As this represents a limited reopening, the planned maximum capacity of 105,000 has been reduced by more than half for Athletic's visit.
The following sections are available for supporters:
Barcelona confirmed they continue working toward obtaining a Phase 1C permit which will enable operations in the northern goal section.
Have Camp Nou Renovations Been Finished?

No, building activities continue at Camp Nou. Construction is not anticipated to conclude until 2027. Upon completion, capacity is projected to reach 105,000.
UEFA Champions League Match Remains Uncertain
While Barcelona expressed enthusiasm in their announcement, some uncertainty emerged regarding their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"Concerning the UEFA Champions League, the club is collaborating with UEFA to secure the ability to host the Eintracht Frankfurt match at Spotify Camp Nou, as the required conditions are satisfied, though confirmation remains pending," Barcelona stated.
Should Barcelona fail to receive authorization, they may conduct their next Champions League home fixture again at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. However, that match isn't scheduled until December 9, providing the club adequate time to obtain the necessary approval.
