Barcelona Fire Shots at Real Madrid Over Valverde and Tchouameni Clash as El Clasico Tension Explodes

Barcelona wasted no time seizing the chance to mock fierce rivals Real Madrid following explosive reports of a training ground altercation between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde.

The alleged clash between Tchouaméni and Valverde sent shockwaves across social media on Thursday, prompting Real Madrid to issue an official statement acknowledging the incident and revealing that the Uruguayan had been taken to hospital for treatment on a head wound.

Valverde subsequently released a personal statement expressing regret over the confrontation, though he denied that any punches were exchanged. He maintained instead that he sustained a "minor cut" after striking his head against a table.

Madrid launched internal disciplinary proceedings against both players and levied a fine of €500,000 ($588,500) on each of them.

The altercation appeared to be the boiling point of months of simmering tension in the dressing room, with the squad divided between those who backed dismissed former head coach Xabi Alonso and those who opposed him.

Separately, Álvaro Carreras corroborated reports from earlier in the week that he had been involved in a different training ground incident, in which Antonio Rüdiger is alleged to have struck the left back.

The internal turmoil gripping the squad casts a dark shadow over this Sunday's Clásico—a fixture many Madridistas are approaching with considerable anxiety.

Barcelona require just a single point on home soil at Camp Nou to secure the La Liga championship and deny their fiercest rivals a major trophy for the second consecutive season.

To make matters worse for Madrid, the title has never previously been officially sealed during a Clásico encounter. Hansi Flick's side is also just two victories away from becoming the first team in La Liga since 1985–86 to complete an entire season unbeaten at home.

With Real Madrid in turmoil, Barcelona delivered a sharp statement of togetherness on Thursday, sharing a photo of midfielder Dani Olmo running through a gauntlet of birthday punches from his teammates, captioned "celebrating in family."

Given the backdrop of the fight, Barça's post was widely interpreted as a calculated dig at their rivals' fractured dressing room.

Madrid Absences Pile Up Ahead of Sunday

Kylian Mbappé

Valverde will be unavailable for Sunday's potentially title-deciding showdown, further swelling an already lengthy injury list that interim boss Álvaro Arbeloa must contend with.

Kylian Mbappé remains a significant doubt as he continues his recovery from the hamstring problem that ruled him out of Madrid's 2–0 victory over Espanyol. Club captain Dani Carvajal will also be absent, sidelined by a toe injury.

Ferland Mendy, meanwhile, is facing surgery after rupturing a tendon in his thigh and could be sidelined for several months.

Éder Militão and Arda Güler are both nursing injuries that will rule them out for the remainder of the campaign, while Rodrygo continues his extended spell on the sidelines.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, however, is expected to reclaim his place between the posts following an absence of nearly two months.
