Barcelona Fringe Player Declares His Commitment: "I'm Staying Put This Summer"

Barcelona's left-back Gerard Martín has reaffirmed his commitment to staying at the club despite ongoing speculation linking him with Premier League interest.

The 23-year-old defender was promoted from Barça Atlètic during the previous summer to serve as backup for Alejandro Balde, ultimately featuring in 42 matches throughout all competitions under manager Hansi Flick, with 19 of those being starting appearances.

Nevertheless, numerous transfer speculations have surrounded Martín. Although Barcelona are reportedly considering strengthening his position, Martín has found himself at the center of rumors connecting him with a potential switch to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Should Wolves, or any other interested party, attempt to secure Martín's services this summer, they appear to face a challenging task in persuading the left-back to depart Catalonia.

"I'm uncertain whether those reports hold any truth," he informed Mundo Deportivo regarding the speculation. "If they did, I would have been informed.

"I'm extremely content here at Barça, and I have no intention of leaving. As long as the coach and management believe in me, I couldn't ask for anything more."

Even should Barcelona acquire a new left-back—with Bayer Leverkusen's Alejandro Grimaldo being specifically referenced during the discussion—Martín remains determined to stay and compete for his place in the squad.

"No, I remain composed," he replied. "Such situations occur frequently across all positions, and healthy competition benefits everyone's development."

Barcelona must offload players this summer to comply with La Liga's 1:1 financial regulations but are reportedly prioritizing other potential exits. Goalkeepers Marc-André ter Stegen and Iñaki Peña are reportedly available for transfer, while striker Pau Víctor and defender Andreas Christensen have both been linked with possible departures.
