While much attention has been focused on Robert Lewandowski's possible exit from Barcelona at season's end, reports now indicate the Catalan club may also be weighing a summer sale of Ferran Torres.
Barcelona are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025–26 campaign, and ESPN reports the club would be willing to entertain offers for Torres, whose contract runs until the summer of 2027.
The summer of 2026 may represent the last chance for Barcelona to command a substantial transfer fee for the 26-year-old winger while he remains at peak value. Should Torres remain at the club, Barcelona would need to negotiate a contract extension, or risk losing him on a free transfer after next season.
With newly re-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently hinting that he wants Lewandowski—whose deal expires this summer—to remain for one more year, Torres could find himself on the outside looking in.
Barcelona's Dream Attack Might Not Include Ferran Torres

The report further notes that Barcelona are actively scouring the market in search of a long-term starting center forward. As has been widely documented over the past year, Atlético Madrid's Julián Álvarez sits at the very top of Barça's transfer wishlist.
However, landing the prolific Argentine will be neither straightforward nor affordable. For a financially constrained club like Barcelona, raising the necessary funds to make a move for Álvarez viable is essential. That's where Torres comes in.
Barcelona could potentially look to include Torres as part of any deal for Álvarez, particularly given that Atlético's sporting director, Mateu Alemany, previously held the same position at Barça when Torres was signed from Manchester City in 2022.
Even if Atlético show no interest in Torres, Barcelona could seek to sell him to another club and channel the proceeds toward securing Álvarez or another elite striker.
Both ESPN and Mundo Deportivo report that Barça's preferred plan would see Lewandowski sign a one-year extension and serve as a deputy to the new striker in 2025–26, though nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
Ferran Torres's Struggles Could Lead to Barcelona Exit

Playing second fiddle to Lewandowski in 2024–25, Torres delivered an impressive 19-goal campaign — his finest single-season return since arriving at Barcelona. He then carried that momentum into 2025–26, netting 13 goals in 19 outings to wrestle the starting spot away from the veteran Polish striker.
Yet since becoming Hansi Flick's first-choice forward, Torres has struggled badly. The inconsistent attacker has managed just three goals in his last 21 appearances for Barça, currently mired in an 11-game goalless run stretching back to January.
Lewandowski has since reclaimed his place in the starting lineup, earning the nod in each of Barcelona's last four matches before the March international break.
Barcelona have worked hard to tie down their key players over the past year, securing their core squad members on long-term deals. Torres was widely expected to be next in line for a renewal, yet there has been no indication that any talks are underway.
Torres is in urgent need of rediscovering his form and making a meaningful impact during the business end of the season, as his future at Barcelona may well hinge on it.
