Barcelona Ready to Sacrifice Key Midfielder in Bold Rashford Transfer Gambit

Barcelona are willing to entertain bids for midfielder Marc Casadó, according to recent reports, as the club looks to generate the necessary funds to complete the registration of their new acquisitions.

Joan García, Marcus Rashford, and Roony Bardghji remain unregistered with La Liga following their summer transfers to the Catalan club, with the Manchester United loan signing posing the most significant obstacle due to his substantial salary demands.

Barcelona have yet to achieve La Liga's 1:1 financial compliance and must secure additional revenue before making further squad investments. Per AS, the strategy to expedite Rashford's registration involves considering proposals for Casadó.

The 21-year-old Casadó had featured in just five substitute appearances for Barcelona when current manager Hansi Flick took charge last summer, but the coach immediately showed confidence in the young player and integrated him as a fundamental component of his championship-winning team.

Prior to sustaining a knee problem in March, Casadó had started 20 out of 27 available La Liga matches and contributed seven additional starts in Champions League competition, proving himself as a dependable element of Flick's setup, though his absence allowed Frenkie de Jong to reclaim his position in the lineup.

Currently considered to rank below both De Jong and the returning Marc Bernal in the hierarchy, Barcelona leadership are open to entertaining proposals for Casadó, who carries an estimated price tag of €30 million ($34.6 million).

This potential transaction would significantly assist Barcelona in registering their new players and could potentially represent the sole major exit required this summer if sporting director Deco successfully secures a buyer willing to meet the full asking price.

SPORT has consistently covered possible interest in Casadó, with Chelsea frequently mentioned as potential suitors, though the young player has reportedly favored staying in Catalonia until now.

However, Barcelona have now notified Casadó and his agents that contract extension discussions have been suspended as they pursue a permanent sale.
