Barcelona Star Breaks Silence on Chelsea and Man Utd Transfer Pursuit

Fermín López has dismissed ongoing speculation linking him with a Premier League transfer from Barcelona, expressing his devotion to the club despite recent social media drama he sparked.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been frequently mentioned as potential suitors for the attacking midfielder. Though hesitant to lose their homegrown talent, Barcelona were allegedly willing to sell the regular substitute if any club met their valuation of €70 million (£60.7 million, $81.5 million).
Whether either Premier League club will genuinely challenge Barcelona's stance remains uncertain, but Fermín clarified his intentions following an impressive display in the team's preseason finale.
"I want to remain here," the 22-year-old stated firmly. "This is my aspiration and I will stay, I'm delighted to contribute to the squad. Much has been speculated, but I will continue representing these colors and working harder than anyone, so the Catalans can rest assured."
Fermín concluded the triumphant 2024–25 season with a solid eight goals and nine assists in all competitions, accumulating 46 appearances. Nevertheless, over half of those matches saw him start from the substitutes' bench, with Hansi Flick regularly utilizing the energetic midfielder when rotating Dani Olmo, Raphinha or Lamine Yamal.

Though understandably eager for increased playing time, Fermín seems to have embraced his role within Barcelona's structure. The young player did, however, raise some questions when he shared a cryptic post on social media recently.
"Evil individuals never triumph, nor those who turn a blind eye, nor those who embrace betrayal as their method and cowardice as their symbol," he posted on Instagram. "Time will tell."
The post was quickly removed, leading to widespread conjecture about its meaning.
Some suggested Fermín was addressing the club's harsh handling of Marc-André ter Stegen, who lost the captain's armband on the same day as his teammate's post. The goalkeeper has since regained his captaincy. "Marc is our first captain, we have great respect for him, what occurred involves external matters," was Fermín's only comment when pressed about the situation.
