Barcelona Strikes Gold with Major Long-Term Signing at Bargain Price

Barcelona is anticipated to finalize the acquisition of FC Copenhagen's young talent Roony Bardghji in the coming week, as per recent reports.

The youngster gained recognition after netting a crucial Champions League goal that secured Copenhagen's remarkable 4–3 victory against Manchester United in November 2023, just seven days prior to celebrating his 18th birthday.

Manchester United along with several other English Premier League teams have shown interest in the promising striker since that memorable performance, however, reports surfaced on Friday indicating Barcelona had initiated discussions with Copenhagen regarding a possible move.

Fabrizio Romano indicates that both clubs have reached a verbal understanding for the transfer, with Barcelona set to pay a base amount of €2 million ($2.3 million) plus performance-related bonuses and a future sale percentage clause. The Swedish player is anticipated to commit to a lengthy contract with the Catalan club.

Despite being just 19 years old, Bardghji found the net 10 times for Copenhagen during the 2023–24 season, though his following campaign was severely disrupted by an ACL tear sustained in May 2024. Following 334 days of rehabilitation, he returned to action in late March and managed six appearances before the season concluded.

Originally from Kuwait but relocated to Sweden at age six, Bardghji operates as a right-sided winger and could serve as suitable cover for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal at Barcelona.

The Spanish giants are simultaneously pursuing Athletic Club's dynamic player Nico Williams for the left wing position, pending financial feasibility—the Euro 2024 champion has already reached agreement on personal terms. Additionally, Marcus Rashford appears optimistic about securing a move from Manchester United to serve as backup to primary striker Robert Lewandowski.

The future role of 2025 Ballon d'Or candidate Raphinha remains uncertain. The Brazilian winger has delivered an outstanding campaign on the left flank, but may face displacement by Williams, or potentially transition to a central attacking midfielder role.
