Barcelona Takes Major Leap Toward Triumphant Camp Nou Homecoming
Barcelona have announced they will be organizing an open training session for supporters to witness the team practicing at the renovated Camp Nou stadium.
The Spanish club has obtained authorization to reopen their iconic venue with a limited capacity of 25,991 spectators but has chosen to delay their immediate comeback until they secure approval for the next phase allowing 45,401 attendees.
To evaluate the stadium's capabilities and demonstrate its readiness to accommodate larger crowds, Barcelona is arranging an open training session before 23,000 supporters on Friday, November 7.
This will mark the first official football activity at Camp Nou in almost 900 days and, if executed successfully, may pave the way for La Liga matches to return to the legendary venue. Any fixtures before the November international pause would be premature, but club leadership is considering the clash against Athletic Club on November 22 as a possible comeback date.
"The squad is thrilled to welcome Barça supporters back to their sanctuary and share this initial chance to reconnect at the Spotify Camp Nou," the organization stated in an official announcement.
Barcelona Pursuing 2029 Champions League Final Hosting Rights
Coinciding with Barcelona's announcement of this trial event, UEFA disclosed it had received an application from the Catalan giants to stage the 2029 Champions League final.
Currently, Camp Nou stands as one of only two venues that have been proposed, with England's renowned Wembley Stadium also competing to host European football's premier event in 2029.
MARCA reports there is confidence within Barcelona that their proposal to stage the match will succeed, with the belief that Camp Nou will be acknowledged as football's most magnificent stadium once fully completed.
The final verdict on the hosting venue will remain undisclosed until September 2026.
