Barcelona Unveils Promising Young Winger as Club Reveals Plans for New Star's Role

Barcelona have officially announced the signing of 19-year-old winger Roony Bardghji, though his role within the Catalan club remains undetermined.

The promising young player, who featured in 84 matches for Copenhagen, traveled to Spain over the weekend to finalize his transfer to Barcelona, with reports suggesting his younger sibling Rayan has also joined the organization.

After signing a four-year deal with the current La Liga titleholders, Bardghji's unveiling was notably absent from Barcelona's main website and wasn't included in the first-team announcements. The news was instead published under Barça Atlètic, the club's B team section.

Nevertheless, Bardghji is anticipated to train with Hansi Flick's main squad during preseason, giving the manager an opportunity to evaluate him closely, with possibilities for a permanent first-team position still being considered.

Should Flick determine that consistent playing time won't be available for Bardghji, the young attacker is likely to be offered on loan, with several La Liga clubs reportedly already showing interest in securing his services.

Barcelona have invested an initial €2 million ($2.3 million) for Bardghji's signature—significantly less than his estimated market worth as one of Europe's most promising young talents.

The youngster was in the final half-year of his Copenhagen contract, prompting the Danish club to accept a reduced fee rather than risk losing Bardghji without compensation at year's end.

This transfer also carries certain risks for Barcelona, as Bardghji has only recently recovered from an ACL injury that sidelined him for 11 months until March 2025. He has made merely six appearances since his return and may require additional time to regain peak fitness.
