Barcelona's Latest La Masia Prodigy Leaves Hansi Flick Completely Mesmerized

Barcelona kicked off their preseason campaign in impressive fashion, securing a dominant 3–1 victory over Japanese side Vissel Kobe while showcasing several standout displays from squad players making their debut with the first team.

Among these emerging talents is 17-year-old La Masia prospect Pedro Fernández, commonly called "Dro." Making his maiden appearance under Hansi Flick's guidance, Fernández entered the game during the latter stages of the second half, replacing fellow newcomer Marcus Rashford, and netted Barcelona's final goal of the encounter.

Dro demonstrated his quality in his initial outing with Barcelona's senior squad, remarkably having never featured for the club's reserve team Barça Atlètic. Flick was impressed by the youngster's performances throughout the opening fortnight of preseason preparation and decided to include him in Barcelona's Asian tour squad. The teenager delivered with an exceptional volley that sealed Barça's triumph.

"We need to nurture Dro and the other [young talents]," Flick commented after the game. "We must support their development. That's our responsibility and that's our commitment."

"I was really pleased with the debuts of Jofre Torrents and Dro. I've observed them extensively in training sessions and they're talented individuals. Dro found the net... I'm delighted to have them," Flick continued.

Dro represents another exciting young central midfielder emerging from Barcelona's renowned academy La Masia. During the previous campaign, he played a crucial role in the La Masia team that captured the UEFA Youth League (U-19 Champions League) title. Currently, he's making his mark with the senior squad.

"It's a dream realized, a memorable moment," Dro reflected following his Barcelona debut. "I felt anxious, but the initial opportunity came my way and I converted it. It was my debut for the greatest club globally and I was extremely nervous. Speaking with Hansi [Flick] helped settle me and I'm deeply thankful to my teammates for believing in me."
