Bradley Barcola netted a hat-trick for Liverpool as they romped to a thrilling 6–3 win away against LASK in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Reds needed to bounce back after Sunday's collapse against Manchester City, and two rapid goals midway through the opening half gave them a much-needed lift. Summer signings Ronald Araújo and Barcola both got off the mark with composed finishes within two minutes of each other, before the latter added a second just before the interval.
Liverpool continued to assert their dominance after the break, though some careless defending allowed Robert Ljubičić and Florian Flecker (twice) to find the net for the hosts.
Jeremie Frimpong's header made it four for Andoni Iraola's side, before Barcola tapped home the Dutchman's cross to complete his hat-trick. Lewis Koumas also found time to score his maiden Champions League goal amid a flurry of second-half efforts.
Having defeated Atlético Madrid in their league phase opener, Liverpool have now taken full points from both of their European fixtures this season.
One Thing We Can't Ignore

There had been only fleeting glimpses of the quality that persuaded Liverpool to invest up to $166 million in Bradley Barcola ahead of the trip to the Raiffeisen Arena. Six appearances had produced zero goal contributions and just the occasional flash of brilliance.
But the seventh outing proved to be the charm for Barcola in Austria, as he ran amok against admittedly limited opposition.
The Frenchman, like many of his teammates, delivered an electrifying display as Liverpool cruised to a confidence-boosting win. Naturally, his first-half strikes past Lukas Jungwirth will command the most attention—rightly so, given the criticism directed at his output.
Barcola's first-time finish into the far corner gave Liverpool a two-goal cushion, and 12 minutes later he added an equally polished second. Receiving Florian Wirtz's sharp pass inside the box with a delicate touch, the Frenchman calmly slotted home with his weaker left foot.
The first goal had Barcola purring. The second had him radiating confidence.
This was the form previously seen at Paris Saint-Germain, with Barcola tormenting LASK defenders through some breathtaking footwork. Nutmegs, backheels and dazzling dribbles were all on display as the Frenchman repeatedly left opponents bewildered. He ultimately claimed the hat-trick his performance had warranted.
Caution is warranted given the modest level of opposition, but this could well be the moment Barcola's Liverpool career truly ignites.
Liverpool Player Ratings vs. LASK (4-2-3-1)

*Ratings provided by FotMob*
GK: Alisson—6.0: Understandably frustrated with the backline after LASK's second-half goals, none of which he could have done anything about.
RB: Jeremie Frimpong—9.0: Opened his account for the season with an impressively timed leap and precise far-post header. Followed it up with pinpoint deliveries to set up Barcola and Koumas, before some slack defending contributed to LASK's third goal.
CB: Ronald Araújo—8.3: Used his imposing physicality to put Liverpool in front and was rarely pushed out of first gear defensively.
CB: Jérémy Jacquet—6.9: Made defending look effortless against LASK's attackers, all of whom were comfortably dealt with by the Frenchman.
LB: Kostas Tsimikas—8.8: Whatever his limitations, Tsimikas remains capable of delivering a dangerous cross, and his quality deliveries teed up both Araújo and Frimpong.
CM: Trey Nyoni—7.3: The 19-year-old demonstrated admirable composure on his first Champions League start, constantly seeking the ball and rarely squandering possession.
CM: Ryan Gravenberch—7.5: Following his costly red card at the weekend, Gravenberch made headlines for all the right reasons here. Struck the inside of the post and posed a persistent threat when driving forward.
RW: Rio Ngumoha—7.4: Glided past LASK defenders with apparent ease, including one outstanding run that led directly to the second goal. Demonstrated his enormous potential with some jaw-dropping dribbles.
AM: Florian Wirtz—8.7: Under growing scrutiny, this was comfortably Wirtz's finest performance of the season. Found clever pockets of space between the lines and was far more precise in his passing than he had been against Man City.
LW: Bradley Barcola—9.7: A breakthrough moment for Barcola, who notched his first senior hat-trick. Some devastating trickery and skill made a complete fool of LASK's backline.
ST: Lewis Koumas—8.4: Pressed relentlessly with the energy that has quickly earned Iraola's confidence, and contributed an assist by keeping the ball alive before Barcola swept home his opener. Unlucky to have two goals ruled offside, but eventually broke his European duck after the interval.
SUB: Virgil van Dijk (62' for Jacquet)—6.1: Struggled upon entering as Liverpool's defensive shape deteriorated.
SUB: Joe Gomez (62' for Araújo)—6.1: Found it difficult alongside his captain as LASK pushed forward with abandon.
