Battle for Survival: Breaking Down the Toughest Remaining Fixtures for Tottenham, West Ham, Nott'm Forest and Leeds

Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first Premier League victory of 2026, yet it still wasn't enough to lift them out of the relegation zone, as West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United all picked up points of their own.

Spurs earned three points for the first time since December with a 1–0 victory over the already-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers. Yet simultaneously, Callum Wilson's injury-time goal helped West Ham edge past Everton 2–1, preserving a two-point buffer above Roberto De Zerbi's side, who remain trapped in the drop zone.

This followed Nottingham Forest's emphatic 5–0 thrashing of Sunderland the previous day — their third win in four matches — keeping a five-point advantage over 18th-placed Spurs. Leeds United have their attention on the FA Cup semifinal against Chelsea on Sunday, but Sean Longstaff's 97th-minute equalizer against Bournemouth in midweek means their survival prospects remain very much alive.

The outlook is growing increasingly bleak for Spurs despite the victory, yet the Premier League relegation battle looks set to produce even more twists across the final four fixtures of the season.

Here's a breakdown of the remaining schedule for the clubs involved in the tense relegation fight.

Beating Wolves was the bare minimum expected of Tottenham, but the challenge ramps up considerably next weekend when they take on Champions League contenders Aston Villa. One factor in Spurs's favor is that Villa have a Europa League semifinal on either side of that weekend fixture, leaving a small possibility that Unai Emery opts to rest key players.

After that comes a massive home clash against Leeds that Spurs absolutely cannot afford to lose, before making the short journey to Stamford Bridge to face an underperforming Chelsea side.

De Zerbi's men close out the campaign at home against Everton, a fixture that could well decide their top-flight fate.

Callum Wilson

West Ham will be riding high after their dramatic victory over Everton, and having taken seven points from their last three outings, they'll fancy their chances against a Brentford side that hasn't won since February.

Next up is a daunting home encounter against title-chasing Arsenal, where the Hammers will be hoping to cause a significant upset. That's followed by an away trip to Newcastle United, whose alarming recent form raises the unlikely possibility they could yet be dragged into the survival fight.

Nuno Espírito Santo's side will then welcome Leeds United to the London Stadium in the season finale, with both clubs hoping their futures are already settled by that point.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are hitting their stride at exactly the right moment and will look to exploit Chelsea's poor run of form when they head to Stamford Bridge next weekend. That match falls between two legs of their Europa League semifinal against Aston Villa, meaning Vítor Pereira's squad faces an intense and demanding run-in.

The Tricky Trees then host a struggling Newcastle before making the trip to Old Trafford to face an in-form Manchester United in the penultimate matchweek of the season.

Forest will be hoping their top-flight status is already secured before Bournemouth arrive at the City Ground on the final day.

Leeds United.

Leeds United will be aiming to have reached the FA Cup final by the time they host Championship-bound Burnley, presenting a prime opportunity to secure three points that would go a long way toward confirming their Premier League survival.

The trip to Tottenham follows, and Leeds will be eager to have their safety wrapped up before welcoming a resurgent Brighton side chasing Champions League football.

The away fixture at West Ham on the final day of the season could be a straightforward occasion for Daniel Farke's men — or a nerve-shredding decider if they've failed to hold onto their current advantage over the drop zone.
