Battle for Survival: How Tottenham, West Ham, Nott'm Forest and Leeds Stack Up in Their Final Premier League Showdowns

Further dropped points for Tottenham Hotspur have left Roberto De Zerbi's side in the relegation zone, fighting for survival in the Premier League alongside West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United.

Spurs appeared set to claim their first league victory of 2026 before a last-gasp equalizer from Brighton & Hove Albion's Georginio Rutter saw the points split in a frustrating 2–2 stalemate in north London. Tottenham remain in 18th position, sitting above already-doomed Wolverhampton Wolves and Burnley.

Safety remains very much attainable, but only if Nottingham Forest and West Ham fail to string together wins in the season's closing weeks. Leeds, meanwhile, look comfortable in 15th after a commanding 3–0 victory over Wolves, a result that has all but sealed Rob Edwards's side's return to the Championship.

There are surely plenty of twists still to come in the relegation scrap, however, and the remaining fixtures for the sides battling to preserve their top-flight status could prove absolutely decisive.

Despite their poor run of form, Tottenham will fancy their chances of picking up a win against a struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers side. Three points are absolutely essential against the bottom-placed club, especially with a visit to Villa Park to follow.

Spurs then return to home soil to face Leeds in a fixture that could prove pivotal to their survival hopes. Failing to win would be catastrophic, with Chelsea and Everton still to come for the north London club.

West Ham have a few extra days to prepare for their clash with Crystal Palace—and they'll need every one of them, given their recent record against the Eagles. The Hammers have managed just one win in their last seven meetings with last season's FA Cup holders.

Facing a stubborn Everton side and seventh-placed Brentford will pose even greater tests, but Nuno Espírito Santo's squad must find their best form to grind out results, with league leaders Arsenal lurking just around the corner.

A visit to St James' Park follows a week later, before a high-stakes showdown with Leeds on the final day of the season. Depending on the standings at that point, the match could determine which side survives and which drops down.

Nottingham Forest will be hoping for a more forgiving run-in to close out the campaign. After a crucial home fixture against Burnley at the City Ground, the Tricky Trees travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland before heading to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

Adding further complications are Europa League ties against Aston Villa sandwiched between those league games. Following the second leg of the semifinals, Vítor Pereira's side return to Premier League duty against Newcastle, a team they have failed to beat in their last five outings.

A journey to Old Trafford then awaits on the penultimate matchday, before Nottingham Forest welcome Bournemouth on May 24. The Tricky Trees have not beaten the Cherries since 2015—and that victory came in the Championship.

In contrast to their closest rivals, Leeds' remaining fixtures steer clear of the division's elite sides. An away trip to Bournemouth represents their stiffest remaining test before they face a run of opponents from the lower half of the table.

Daniel Farke's side then host Burnley, keen to make amends for their 2–0 defeat in the earlier meeting. A visit to north London to face Spurs looms as a defining moment, where a Leeds victory would go a long way toward securing their safety—and could spell serious trouble for Tottenham.

Their Premier League campaign wraps up with a home game against Brighton followed by a clash with West Ham. The Whites will be hoping that by that stage, only the Hammers are the ones desperately needing a result to retain their place in England's top division.
