Liverpool's exciting teenage winger Rio Ngumoha has caught the attention of Bayern Munich.
A report from The Athletic indicates that the Bundesliga title holders, who reached the Champions League semifinals last season before being eliminated, are exploring several avenues to bolster their already impressive attack, with Ngumoha identified as the "main target" to challenge for a starting spot on the left flank.
It has been made clear that Liverpool have no plans to part ways with the dynamic 17-year-old, whom many Reds fans were eager to see more of last season as the momentum built during Arne Slot's debut campaign as manager quickly faded during a disappointing title defense following their Premier League triumph in 2024–25.
Slot largely resisted those demands throughout the season, despite Ngumoha making an impressive early impression at Newcastle United in August 2025. He ultimately featured in 29 appearances across all competitions, though he managed only one additional goal and assist to his record, frequently entering the pitch as a late impact substitute in the second half.
Why Bayern Would Want to Sign Ngumoha

Many clubs will look on with envy at the wealth of attacking talent available to manager Vincent Kompany. Harry Kane leads the line for Bayern, while Luis Díaz and Michael Olise are exceptional wingers, and Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, and Serge Gnabry further add to an outstanding offensive unit.
However, age is becoming a concern for both Gnabry and Díaz—the former has already entered his 30s and is past his peak, while the latter is approaching 29—and Bayern are a club known for their proactive approach to recruitment. Anthony Gordon had been linked with the German giants before ultimately joining Barcelona, making it evident that Bayern feel the need for younger, additional depth on the left side.
Ngumoha still has plenty of room to grow and is far from a complete player, yet he has demonstrated more than enough during his brief time in Liverpool's first team to indicate he has the makings of a top-level performer. Bayern have an outstanding track record of nurturing young talent—with Musiala and Karl serving as prime examples—and there's little doubt that Ngumoha would thrive playing alongside a leader of Kane's caliber.
Olise has risen to global superstar status at Bayern and is now attracting interest from Real Madrid, and it would be difficult to argue that Ngumoha couldn't follow a similar trajectory if he were to make the move to the Allianz Arena.
Liverpool Very Unlikely to Entertain Bayern's Interests

The very reasons Bayern are keen on signing Ngumoha are precisely why Liverpool will have no intention of allowing their prized young asset to leave.
Slot described Ngumoha as having "incredible potential" during his tenure, and it's difficult to imagine incoming manager Andoni Iraola holding a different view. The Spaniard is anticipated to bring a high-energy, attack-minded style of play that relies heavily on pace along the wings, and no one in Liverpool's current squad embodies that better than Ngumoha.
With Mohamed Salah set to depart Liverpool this summer, the spotlight will shift, and Ngumoha appears ready to step into the limelight alongside the highly gifted Florian Wirtz, spearheading the Reds' attack into a new chapter.
It's worth remembering that Liverpool were the first to recognize Ngumoha's potential, persuading him to leave Premier League rivals Chelsea in 2024 before integrating him into first-team training shortly thereafter.
