Bayern Munich Chief Drops Bombshell on Nicolas Jackson's Secret Transfer Clause

Uli Hoeneß, Bayern Munich's honorary president, has disclosed that Nicolas Jackson's temporary transfer from Chelsea will become permanent only if the striker features as a starter in 40 matches throughout all competitions this campaign.

Chelsea had initially withdrawn from a loan arrangement with Bayern following Liam Delap's injury setback, but ultimately persuaded the German club to enhance their proposal from a purchase option to a conditional obligation to finalize the transfer.

Chelsea's requirements included a record-breaking fee for a season-long loan, reportedly €16.5 million (£14.3 million, $19.3 million), though it has since emerged that Jackson and his representatives contributed financially by forgoing some compensation due to them.

"First of all, it wasn't €16.5 million - the player and his representatives contributed €3 million," Hoeneß stated during his Doppelpass appearance. "The actual player cost was €13.5 million.

"When a player costs €80 million over a five-year deal, that amounts to roughly €16 million annually, making this a solid piece of business."

When questioned about Jackson's deal potentially becoming costly if his buy clause activates, Hoeneß chuckled: "He needs to start 40 matches. That won't happen."

Examining the statistics reveals why Hoeneß expressed such confidence. Bayern contested 56 fixtures across all tournaments last season, including five Club World Cup encounters. However, they were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals and DFB Pokal round of 16.

Harry Kane remains Bayern's established first-choice striker when fit, while the left wing position—potentially Jackson's alternative role—is now filled by Luis Díaz after his £65.5 million transfer from Liverpool.

On the right flank, Michael Olise has established himself as a regular starter, leaving Jackson with limited pathways to consistent starting opportunities this season.
