Bayern Munich Sets Sights on Second Liverpool Target After Pursuing Cody Gakpo

Bayern Munich are actively seeking a replacement for Leroy Sané during the upcoming summer transfer window, with Liverpool's Luis Díaz now emerging as a potential acquisition target alongside his teammate Cody Gakpo.
The Bavarian giants had hoped to secure Sané's contract extension following his most productive goal-scoring campaign in German football, but negotiations with the international player broke down. Sané has subsequently committed to a three-year agreement with Galatasaray, with the official announcement expected after the Club World Cup concludes.
Vincent Kompany's squad was already exploring winger options prior to Sané's contract refusal, and the German's imminent departure has accelerated their urgency to strengthen their offensive capabilities.
The German champions have been connected to numerous potential signings. Following their unsuccessful pursuit of Florian Wirtz, who ultimately chose Liverpool, names like Gakpo and Athletic Club's Nico Williams surfaced as possible targets. Now, according to BILD, their hunt for alternative attacking reinforcements has directed their attention toward Díaz.

The publication questions whether Liverpool might need to offload several semi-essential players to fund Wirtz's record-setting transfer, with Díaz specifically identified as a player the Merseyside club would consider selling at the appropriate valuation. While Gakpo appears less likely to depart, the Dutch forward is reportedly 'high on the priority list' of Bayern sporting director Max Eberl.
Bayern had previously competed for Wirtz's signature, and they were undoubtedly disappointed by the German midfielder's choice to join Liverpool, especially given their history of acquiring top Bundesliga talent.
Díaz has additionally attracted interest from Barcelona, who share comparable transfer objectives with Bayern and appear to be pursuing similar player profiles. The Catalan club had been attempting to negotiate Liverpool's asking price for the Colombian winger, which was reportedly around €80 million (£68.3 million, $107.7 million) at season's end, though recent reports suggest the Reds might now accept €60 million (£51.2 million, $68.9 million) for his services this summer.
Bradley Barcola, Jamie Gittens and Gabriel Martinelli are also mentioned as wingers under consideration by Bayern's recruitment team.
