Benjamin Sesko Opens Up About His Shocking Manchester United Move

Benjamin Šeško explained his decision to join Manchester United during the summer transfer window in an exclusive interview with the club following an extended period of transfer speculation.
The Red Devils acquired the Slovenian striker for an upfront payment of €76.5 million (£66.3 million, $89.1 million), plus an additional €8.5 million in performance-related bonuses, making him their third major signing of the summer alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. He becomes the first Slovenian player to represent the club.
Šeško had previously been connected with a potential move to Arsenal in earlier transfer windows, though that deal collapsed when the Gunners opted to pursue Viktor Gyökeres instead. His transfer to Man Utd gained momentum rapidly during a competitive pursuit with Newcastle United, with the Red Devils ultimately securing his services over the Magpies. The Slovenian explained his reasoning for selecting Man Utd as the new season approaches.
"I believe, primarily, it's because of the club itself. It's simply a historic institution that is incredible. For me, the squad is excellent. It continues to improve and that's why there are elements that draw you there, provide you with this motivation that makes you want to be involved. I believe it's an excellent project, overall, and I'm eager to begin, absolutely," Šeško stated in a club interview.
The forward also commended head coach Ruben Amorim for his influence in the recruitment process.
"Certainly, I believe this is extremely significant in football generally. [He is] an excellent person, excellent manager," Šeško commented.
Šeško netted 13 goals during the previous Bundesliga campaign while contributing another eight across the Champions League and DFB-Pokal competitions. The 22-year-old will operate at the apex of Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation with supporting options including the previously mentioned summer signings plus Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo.
Šeško's signing has raised questions about the future prospects of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee this summer. The Slovenian, if prepared, will have an opportunity to make an early impact when Man Utd host Arsenal at Old Trafford for both teams' Premier League season opener.
