Benjamin Sesko Vows to 'Stay Strong' Despite Rocky Manchester United Beginning
Benjamin Šeško has stated he remains unfazed by the disappointing beginning to his Manchester United career.
The Red Devils secured Šeško's services in the final stages of the summer transfer period, finalizing a deal valued at up to €85 million (£73.8 million, $99.1 million) with RB Leipzig to outmaneuver Newcastle United for his signature in early August.
Following his arrival at United, Šeško has been utilized as a substitute in all three Premier League matches, with his sole starting appearance occurring in the disappointing Carabao Cup loss against Grimsby Town. He has yet to find the net for Ruben Amorim's squad, which, considering the prominent nature of his move, has intensified the considerable expectations placed upon him.
During his meeting with local journalists after joining up with the Slovenia national squad, Šeško was questioned about whether his self-belief had been affected by a scoreless beginning to his time with a United team that has secured victory in only one of four matches this campaign.
"Regarding my mental condition, everything is perfectly fine because I have support systems in place to assist me," he stated. "I am maintaining my strength and keeping a positive outlook."
Furthermore, Šeško recognized the elevated standard that accompanies his transition from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, reassuring supporters that he is nearing the completion of his adaptation phase and promising to alter the storyline in the upcoming weeks.
"The caliber of matches is undoubtedly significantly higher, and both the opposition players and my teammates operate at an elevated standard," he elaborated. "Ultimately, English football represents the pinnacle of global football.
"However, I am extremely excited about the forthcoming period, particularly because I am improving and accelerating with each training session, and I am also advancing in my football mindset daily. I aspired to relocate to England and fortunately my ambition was realized."
The resumption of Premier League competition following the international hiatus will provide Šeško with an ideal opportunity to prove his critics wrong. United will travel a short distance to confront bitter rivals Manchester City on September 14, and the forward is fully aware of the magnitude of the challenge that awaits.
"Indeed, it's an extraordinarily significant fixture approaching," Šeško admitted. "There will undoubtedly be pressure on both teams to simply secure victory in this encounter. There's still considerable time remaining until this match, but we're certainly anticipating an exceptional contest."
